The international betting division of Stanley Leisure, UK\’s largest casino operator, has reported good results for the first half. Turnover for the period was £46.0m, an increase of one per cent, while profit increased by 22 per cent to £2.2m, reflecting more favourable sporting results.
Stanleybet International is the remaining element of betting within the group, following last year\’s sale of the high street betting shop chain to rival William Hill for £504m and the closing of the UK internet operation.
The company\’s agent-based business is active in Italy, Belgium, Croatia and Romania.
Despite the business continues to absorb significant legal costs, Stanley is exploring the opportunity to expand it into new territories, as the company believes the model can be replicated in a number of other European countries.
