According to Focus.de, new rules to be introduced on December 13 will prevent foreign betting companies from offering internet betting services in Germany. Either internet service providers will be obliged to block access to blacklisted websites (like it happens in Italy right now) or banks will be instructed to stop online gambling transactions to foreign gambling sites (similar to what the Unites States are trying to do).

In separate news, German lottery company Tipp24 has reported a 150% increase to EUR 5.7 million in profit for the first nine months of 2006, while revenues were up 30% to EUR 24.3 million in the period. The company acknowledged the difficult legal environment over the future of Germany\’s gaming market and said that it expects to raise revenue by 30-40 per cent in each of the next two years if it remains unchanged.
