The Antigua Sun says the deadline for the United States to put forward a proposal to settle its five-year trade dispute over internet gambling against Antigua and Barbuda passed with neither Antigua’s attorney in the matter Mark Mendel nor the local Directorate of Gaming receiving any communication from US officials.

Mendel, who was Antigua’s head counsel at the WTO, said earlier last month that he expected a proposal for a settlement to address both the US failure to comply with the WTO ruling on access for internet gambling operators as well as Antigua’s claim for compensation.
