The acquisition of the 12 Bruce\’s betting shops brings the total of the Coral\’s estate at 1,286 outlets and completes the exit of the Bruce family from the betting industry.
Coral Eurobet Chief Executive Vaughn Ashdown said to the Racing Post he was delighted that Jamie Bruce decided to sell to Coral, “because it continues our strategy of buying well-run shops in the right locations, and for a price that suits both parties.”
Ashdown also said he was confident Coral will have an estate of 1,300 betting-shops when at the end of January 2006 a management change will complete the October merger with Gala.
Ashdown and Finance Director Mick Mariscotti have joined a group board headed by Gala Chairman John Kelly and Chief Executive Neil Goulden. While the day-to-day business will be conducted by a managing director for each of the group\’s four divisions: Wilf Walsh for bookmaking, Dominic Harrison for e-gaming, Steve McKenna for bingo and Nick Potter for casinos.
