In a summary of its provisional findings, the CC, an independent public body which carries out investigations into completed and proposed mergers, concluded that the anticipated acquisition by Sportech of the Vernons fotball pools business would not result in a substantial lessening of competition, even though it would mean that Sportech will have virtually 100 per cent of the UK football pools market.
