Costa Rican national police raided Bodog.com founder Calvin Ayre’s home because they suspected illegal gambling was taking place during a wrap-up party celebrating the completion of a television show produced by the online sportsbook.
Ayre, who at no time was detained or arrested, said his appearance on the Forbes cover as Canada\’s newest billionaire, prompted local press speculation that he was organizing illegal gambling in his home.
“When you\’re on the cover of Forbes, you attract a lot of attention,” he said.
