Bodog founder Calvin Ayre cited the uncertainty created by the U.S. Department of Justice\’s recent actions as the reason for cancellation of the Bodog.com Marketing Conference due to be held in the Bahamas in December.
“With all the attention our industry has garnered in recent months by certain officials within the U.S. government, a number of speakers and attendees have communicated their apprehension about participating in an industry event of such magnitude. It is in light of these concerns, and with the best interest of all delegates in mind, that our decision to not proceed with the conference was made,” said Ayre.
Elsewhere, the International Gaming Conference & Expo, slated for November 5-7 at the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Dublin, Ireland, will feature an unprecedented lineup of legal experts discussing the current state of the interactive gaming industry both in the U.S. and internationally. “This conference will feature the top legal minds in the industry in one venue to discuss what has taken place and what they anticipate will occur next to both the detriment and continuance of the industry and those involved with it from public companies to the ones that serve them in the areas of technology, marketing, financing, payment solutions and more. Some of the answers will surprise those in attendance,” commented Christopher Dauer, Director of Conferences for The Sports Network, developer of the IGCE.
Later in December, Bullet Business will bring together online and offline gambling operators in a unique structure of 6 summits, conferences and workshops which will address the most important business issues, including marketing and legislation, poker, online bingo and new product development. The event will be held December 6–7 at the Business Design Centre in London, UK. “Research indicated that there was a real need to bring the on and offline markets together across the gaming and gambling industry. The synergies are massively important and of course the expectation of the European market has been heightened in recent months making the event even more pertinent,” explained Michael Setters, Global Events Director at Bullet Business.
