10-07-2008: Bookmakers Review received complaints from two Betway customers who had their winning bets voided and their accounts closed (with initial deposit reimbursed) after being identified as part of a group abusing the bookmaker\’s bonus offer on regular basis.
While I strongly believe (based on previous experiences) that when a bookmaker say it has identified a bonus abuser, most of the times it has a good reason to say so, I do have a problem when a bookmaker states: “Terms and Conditions allow us to close or suspend any accounts at our discretion, based on the relative perceived harm to our site.
Could winning bets be perceived as harmful by bookmakers?
Betway management also told BMR they encourage the players who feel harmed by Betway\’s initiatives to contact…(drum rolls) Betway.
And in the case that the players are dissatisfied with the response that they receive (which is likely, I guess) they can contact the LGA (which is well known to protect players interest, no it\’s not).
Betway downgraded to 2.5 (3)
UPDATE 18-07-2008. Bookmakers Review received another complaint from a player that had his winnings confiscated for not playing fair. BMR to ask Betway what fair play is supposed to be considering that there is no reference to it in the terms and conditions of service. Probably Betway considers losing the deposit fair, while winning appears to be unfair.
