The Racing Post revealed today that Vincent Caldwell’s new company Racing2Day has been granted a betting license by the Oregon Racing Commission and will launch a pari-mutuel betting website catering to small punters in time for the Kentucky Derby in June.

“Current US operators are focusing mainly on high rollers, but these people are promiscuous in their trading and move around according to the latest offer or the attraction of rebates, which we won’t be using,” Caldwell told the Racing Post. “There’s a huge market among lower-staking punters and the foreign-language community groups. They’re the ones we’re going to service.”

Earlier last week, Peter Burrell-owned Blacks Bookmaking announced its move to Gibraltar after Victor Chandler decided to take a stake in the niche-market operator. Burrell told the Racing Post: “We offer a premium service to exclusive account holders, but need a bigger structure to support our success going forward. There’s no better company than Victor Chandler International to provide that expertise.”
