Betfair\’s D-Day in Tasmania

Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon believes to have the numbers to get through both houses of Parliament and grant a license to the controversial betting exchange. However, he put the decision on hold until October 18 to allow further talks with the state\’s racing representatives.

Andrew Twaits, Betfair Corporate and Business Affairs Director, confirmed that millions of dollars would be poured into Tasmania\’s economy if Betfair gets licensed.

“It\’s important to remember that we promise significant economic benefits to the state as a whole, including significant jobs and tens of millions of dollars worth of investment,” he said.
