The Australian Football League, which is understood to have received details of betting transactions from Betfair and the TABs in Victoria and New South Wales, said it planned to broaden its investigation into player gambling approaching every Australian sports betting operator. The SA TAB, Betstar\’s Alan Eskander and Sportingbet Australia already said they will not provide customer details to the AFL.

“We will disclose to the police and to the Australian Tax Office, but not to the AFL,” said the general manager of the SA TAB.

In other news, Winbet\’s Paul Johnson said Victorian bookmakers have two options: move to the Northern Territory or going bust. Johnson said the rule that stipulates Victorian bookies have to be at a racecourse before turning on the internet makes their online betting operations inoperable. “All that is doing is encouraging punters to bet with the corporate bookies in the Northern Territory,” he said.
