According to Panorama, a popular BBC\’s investigative show, an average of 5.8 million people a month have visited online gambling websites between April and September, while research commissioned by the Government found only one million regular UK online gamblers. Birmingham University Professor Jim Orford believes that the Government is naive over liberalisation of gambling laws and predicts that up to a million people a year could become hooked on internet gambling.
