College football is finally here, and we already learned a lot from just one week. For starters, we saw how good the SEC is going to be. The conference is 14-1 after one week, and the only loss was because of a missed PAT to end a potential game-winning drive.

This weekend, the SEC will start the cannibalization of itself with a game between Arkansas and South Carolina. Beyond that, some teams will be looking to avoid upsets from scrappy teams.

Let’s break down three games this weekend and go over the best NCAAF picks in the SEC. We’ll start with the reigning champs.

Samford Bulldogs vs. Georgia Bulldogs

Saturday, September 10, 2022 – 04:00 PM EDT at Sanford Stadium

Bulldogs' Fight Analysis

Georgia lost 15 players to last year’s draft, but they appeared to be one of the top teams again after destroying the Oregon Ducks. Georgia showed that the squad is ready to try and repeat, and this is going to be a chance to flex the depth of the roster.

Georgia will easily beat Samford, but can they cover the spread? The Bulldogs have a good reputation for taking care of business against inferior opponents.

Still, this comes down to the backups. Georgia likely won’t see starters after the first half. If the bench players can get a few scores on the board without giving up massive plays from Samford, the Bulldogs will cover.

Thankfully, Georgia has a five-star quarterback behind Stetson Bennett. This is his chance to prove himself, and he will do just that. Expect Georgia to cover without allowing many points (if any). The backups will take advantage of an opportunity to play, and Samford won’t be able to keep up.

NCAAF Pick: Georgia to Cover (Odds TBD)

Appalachian State Mountaineers vs. Texas A&M Aggies

Saturday, September 10, 2022 – 03:30 PM EDT at Kyle Field

Mountaineers vs. Aggies Analysis

The Aggies played well in the season opener, but this will be a slightly tougher test. Still, they should be able to win this one easily.

Appalachian State has an explosive offense, but the defense was terrible against UNC. Texas A&M has a higher ceiling than the Tarheels, but they’ll have to execute for four quarters if they want to cover this spread.

Instead, I’m more interested in the points total. Considering how well App. State’s offense looked last week, you would think this would be one of the larger totals in the nation.

However, it looks like the top-rated sportsbooks are discrediting the offense because the majority of App. State’s points were scored in the fourth quarter in a crazy situation.

Appalachian State vs. Texas A&M: Best Bet

Still, I think this will be a game between two qualified college quarterbacks. You’ll see enough points in the first half to make the total manageable, and we may see another crazy fourth quarter to put things on ice.

Following the NCAAF odds, expect the Aggies to win, but trust the over when you want to make a bet on this game between an upset-hungry team and an SEC cornerstone.

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

Saturday, September 10, 2022 – 12:00 PM EDT at Razorback Stadium

Arkansas Razorbacks Analysis

Arkansas proved itself against Cincinnati in Week 1, and the Razorbacks look to be ready to compete with at least half of the SEC.

They may not be up there with Georgia and Alabama, but they should be one of the best teams in the second tier of programs.

South Carolina Gamecocks Analysis

This week, they play the Gamecocks at home. South Carolina was a great team last year, and they expect to be on the rise in 2022.

However, Spencer Rattler looked flawed against an inferior opponent last weekend. He threw two picks and only scored one touchdown. Arkansas will be coming after him, and he’ll have to play better if he wants to lead his team to victory.

South Carolina vs. Arkansas: Best Bet

I expect Arkansas’s defense to take care of business. I’m not sure about the total points, but I’m confident that Arkansas will win at home and prove to be a strong SEC team. They will force plenty of turnovers as they cover the spread.

The spread is moving around depending on your favorite sportsbook, but it’s currently at -7.5 if you’re willing to risk a little more money on the investment.
