Northern Illinois Huskies vs. Western Michigan Broncos

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 – 07:00 PM EST at Waldo Stadium

As of this late Sunday night writing, all three home teams on Wednesday night’s MAC slate are slight underdogs and Western Michigan is no exception.

In their last outing the Broncos traveled to Bowling Green and bowed, 13-9, but narrowly cashed for their backers as five-point road pups.

Northern Illinois remains mired in the muck of the MAC West and last week’s 35-22 loss to Central Michigan did them no favors nor those who bet them as 4 ½ point home underdogs.

The Huskies are 2-7 straight-up and 3-6 against the number.

Pick and Prediction

The top-rated sportsbooks have made this game a coin flip unless you take your business to Bookmaker (visit our Bookmaker Review), the only major shop dealing Western Michigan as a one-point home dog. But because we are on the visitors, we will be taking our business elsewhere.

The Huskies may be a lousy team, but the Broncos at 3-6 (4-5 ATS) are not that much better. And one thing Northern Illinois can do is score, averaging 29.8 points per game while Western Michigan is averaging over 10 points less per game at 19.3 PPG. Back the road team here and go over.

Score Prediction: Northern Illinois 31 - Western Michigan 27

Buffalo Bulls vs. Central Michigan Chippewas

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 - 07:00 PM EST at Kelly/Shorts Stadium

Buffalo is knotted in a three-way tie for first place in the MAC East with a 4-1 conference mark but they are coming off of a pivotal 45-24 road loss to Ohio as 2 ½ point favorites after winning and covering their last five games.

Central Michigan checks in with a 3-6 overall record (3-5-1 ATS) and enters this meeting hot off the heels of a 35-22 victory at Northern Illinois.

The Chippewas rushing attack overwhelmed the Huskies as they chewed up 245 yards on the ground en route to the 13-point win.

Pick and Prediction

The oddsmakers are dealing Buffalo as anywhere between a 1 ½ to 2 ½ point favorite as of this early writing and I feel they’re worth it.

They have won and covered their last two meetings against Central Michigan and we should also know that the Chippewas are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four home games.

Score Prediction: Buffalo 29 - Central Michigan 22

Kent State Golden Flashes vs. Bowling Green Falcons

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 - 07:00 PM EST at Doyt L. Perry Stadium

Kent State enters with a 3-6 straight up and ATS mark with their last performance being a 27-20 loss to Ball State.

There was one bright spot, Marquez Cooper rambled 168 yards on 32 carries and one rushing touchdown.

The Golden Flashes have failed to cover in their last five outings, but have defeated Bowling Green in their last four meetings, covering in three of those contests.

Bowling Green is 5-4 (3-5-1 ATS) but has won their last three games, covering in two of them. Their latest performance saw the Falcons edge Western Michigan, 13-9, but failed to cover as five-point favorites.

Pick and Prediction

This line opened with visiting Kent State as 2-point road chalk, but that number has swelled to as high as -3 at some shops. I like following the money on these lesser-known conferences and the sharp money is squarely on the Golden Flashes.

The precedent for Kent State cashing against Bowling Green is clear and I see the Flashes leaning heavily on their 18th-ranked ground game that should control the pace and tempo of this game against Bowling Green’s 80th-ranked run-stop unit. The Falcons are also 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games in November and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games.

As for the total, this game is poised to go low and if you need a bit more convincing, take a look at these trends below.

  • Under is 3-0-1 in the Golden Flashes’ last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
  • Under is 5-1 in the Golden Flashes’ last 6 conference games.
  • Under is 4-1-1 in the Golden Flashes’ last 6 games overall.
  • Under is 4-1 in the Golden Flashes’ last 5 games following an ATS loss.
  • Under is 11-4 in the Falcons’ last 15 Wednesday games.

Score Prediction: Kent State 30 - Bowling Green 23
