College football had a soft launch in Week 0, but the top teams will finally compete in Week 1 of the season. Games being played will impact conference titles and CFP bids.

In the past, we’ve seen top teams choose to play games on neutral fields against other elite programs. This season, other top programs are choosing to play non-conference games in later weeks and have home openers against weaker opponents.

Alabama will host Utah State before traveling to Austin to play the Longhorns. Texas A&M faces Sam Houston State, and the Michigan Wolverines play against Colorado State.

All of these games feel like definite wins, but there is still a chance for each team to cover the spread. A moneyline parlay would bring practically no value, so we need to look at other NCAAF bets to make for these games. Bets can make college football interesting, and these are the best bets to make for this opening slate of games.

Utah State Aggies vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Saturday, September 3, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at Bryant-Denny Stadium

Following the NCAAF futures odds, Alabama is the title favorite once again, and it is clear to see why. After making it to the national championship game last year, Alabama returns Bryce Young and Will Anderson, the two best players in college football.

They’ll be facing off against a Utah State team that struggled to finish off UConn in Week 0. With that in mind, Alabama will easily win this game. In fact, Heritage Sports (visit our Heritage Sports Review) has Alabama at -72495 to win the game, meaning you would have to bet $724.95 to win a single dollar.

How to Bet Utah State vs. Alabama

For your college football picks, bet Under 62.5 (-108) at Heritage. While Alabama is capable of putting up 63 points singlehandedly, they will let off the gas early in the third quarter.

Expect a score somewhere around 35-3 at halftime with a lackluster second half. Alabama’s backups will chew the clock and run the ball.

Utah State may score a late touchdown, but don’t expect much at the end of this game from a team struggling to stop the Huskies in a season opener.

Texas A&M Aggies vs. Sam Houston State Bearkats

Saturday, September 3, 2022 - 12:00 PM EDT at Kyle Field

Texas A&M is going to win this game so badly that you can’t find odds for it. None of the major top-rated sportsbooks are carrying a line of any kind due to the unpredictability of this game.

If the Aggies wanted, they could score 80 points in this game. However, they will likely pull starters and let depth players get reps for at least an entire half.

You won’t learn anything from this game. However, you can still bet on the Aggies. The win total for the team is 8.5, and an Under bet pays out at +115. A loss against Alabama is inevitable, but the Aggies also have to play LSU, Auburn, Miami, Florida, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.

While the Aggies will probably be favored in most of these games, upsets are likely to happen at some point.

NCAAF Pick: TBD

Colorado State Rams vs. Michigan Wolverines

Saturday, September 3, 2022 - 12:00 PM EDT at Michigan Stadium

Michigan made the College Football Playoff last season, but the team lost multiple starters on offense and both pass rushers. The likelihood of making it back to the CFP is low for the Wolverines.

However, Michigan should at least win the first game of the season. The real question pertains to how they will handle the spread.

Michigan has a quarterback battle. Jim Harbaugh chose to start both candidates in the first two games of the season. That instability will make it hard for the Wolverines to get in a groove this game.

How to Bet Colorado State vs. Michigan

Also, Michigan has a new offense to install with the loss of last year’s offensive coordinator. They are likely to regress this season, and I expect them to fail to cover this spread.

Michigan will still win the game, and they will probably win easily, but a spread of 31 points is too much to trust right now.

NCAAF Pick: Colorado State +31 (-110) at Bovada (visit our Bovada Review)
