Ball State Cardinals vs. Kent State Golden Flashes

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at Dix Stadium

Teams Analysis

The Ball State Cardinals will take on the Kent State Golden Flashes in a MAC game on Tuesday night. Ball State is currently 4-4 on the season while Kent State is sitting at 3-5.

Ball State Cardinals

The Cardinals have scored 24.5 points per game, but have also allowed 28.1 points per game on the year. The offense has earned close to 400 yards per game behind John Paddock at quarterback.

He’s thrown for nearly 2,000 yards on the year and has 14 touchdowns. However, he’s also thrown 9 interceptions and has a QBR of 33. He’s got one of the worst QBRs in college football.

However, Ball State has done very well rushing the football, earning solid production out of Carson Steele, who has rushed for 890 yards and eight touchdowns on 192 attempts. He’s averaged 4.6 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, the defense has allowed 396.5 yards per game. They held Eastern Michigan to just 20 points in a loss last week and kept UConn to 21 points in the following week prior. The defense has stepped up recently, especially in coverage and against the run.

Kent State Golden Flashes

Meanwhile, Kent State’s offense has averaged 433.9 yards per game. They’ve accumulated 209.6 yards on the ground per game with Marquez Cooper earning 8 touchdowns on 184 attempts.

Collin Schlee has earned a QBR of 76.5 and has protected the ball much better for the Golden Flashes. However, he was injured and out last week against Akron. Devin Kargman stepped up at quarterback and helped Akron earn a win at home.

The defense allowed 52 to Toledo in the previous week and lost to Miami-Ohio 27-24 in the week before that. Kent State has struggled in coverage and hasn’t been as disciplined in tackling.

The Pick

I’ll take the Ball State Cardinals on the road with the points as my NCAAF pick.

Buffalo Bulls vs. Ohio Bobcats

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 - 07:30 PM EDT at Peden Stadium

Teams Analysis

The Buffalo Bulls and Ohio Bobcats will play an exciting conference matchup on Tuesday. Both teams are 5-3 on the season and could earn bowl eligibility with a win.

Buffalo Bulls

Buffalo began the year 0-3 but have won five straight games. They’ve scored at least 24 points in every game and have held opponents to 20 or fewer points in three of their five wins.

Cole Snyder has thrown for 1,907 yards and has 12 touchdowns to go along with 5 interceptions. His favorite target has been Justin Marshall, who has caught 35 catches for 497 yards and 5 touchdowns.

The offense has earned 398.6 yards per game, but the defense has allowed 391.6 yards per game. Still, the Bulls have scored nearly 31 points per game while allowing under 25 points per game.

On defense, the Bulls have struggled with tackling, but have looked solid against the run and continue to put together a nice pass rush with solid coverage in the passing game.

Ohio Bobcats

Meanwhile, the Bobcats have scored 32 points per game, but have allowed 34.4 points. Although Ohio has earned 426.6 yards per game, the defense is giving up over 500 yards of offense per game. Kurtis Rourke has thrown 16 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on the year. He’s been terrific, but pass protection has failed him.

Sam Wiglusz has hauled in 7 touchdowns on 49 receptions and has nearly 600 yards receiving. Ohio has won four of their last five games and only lost to Kent State in overtime. The defense has held Northern Illinois to 17 and Western Michigan to 14 over the last two games.

Maybe there’s some improvement for the defense, but if you like consistency, Buffalo’s way more consistent defensively. Ohio has looked terrible in coverage and they’ve missed plenty of tackles all season long.

The pass rush could be effective at times and the run defense has had their moments, but Buffalo’s offense should be able to drop points on Ohio, even on the road.

The Pick

Let’s take Buffalo -3 over the Ohio Bobcats at the top-rated sportsbooks for the second MAC game of the night.
