After two weeks of college football, we still have more questions than answers. Alabama looks dominant, but the other three teams from last year’s College Football Playoff have all looked bad.

Ohio State and Clemson suffered tough losses, and Notre Dame has barely made it to a 2-0 record. No one truly knows who is for real this season, but that makes the world of sports betting more fun. Bettors who can find the true value in distorted betting lines can cash in, but that is easier said than done.

That makes betting lines interesting, but the best way to handle things is to diversify your decisions. You have to value all types of college football odds. There is value with traditional point spreads, but don’t forget moneylines and over/under bets.

With that in mind, here are the three best bets for the third week of the college football season. We have one pick for each type of bet this weekend, including some solid value on Saturday. Let’s start with the traditional spread.

Auburn Tigers vs. Penn State Nittany Lions

Saturday, September 18, 2021 – 07:30 PM EDT at Beaver Stadium

Auburn has two dominant wins so far this year, but they have yet to face a true test. While they look great, it is impossible to truly know how they will fare against a top-ranked team. They have a new offensive scheme with Bryan Harsin, and this will be a true test.

This will also be Auburn’s first test on the road in a hostile environment. Bo Nix hasn’t seen a fully-packed stadium since his freshman season, and he will have to shine in a tough environment.

Penn State has already been tested, and they beat Wisconsin by six on the road. This test will be at night at home, and Sean Clifford will be ready to thrive.

Could Auburn win this game? Absolutely. However, too many things favor the Nittany Lions. They have experience on offense, the home-field advantage and a head coach with more experience.

Penn State is poised to win the Big Ten, and that would help them make the College Football Playoff. They have to win this game but expect them to do that by at least a touchdown. Let’s continue to the point total.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Florida Gators

Saturday, September 18, 2021 - 03:30 PM EDT at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

Alabama has an elite offense, and Florida will likely have no answers for stopping it. Despite a slow start last week, the Tide scored over 40 points once again.

Bryce Young is a Heisman contender, and the quarterback has plenty of weapons around him. Alabama can score on long drives or quick plays. Whether it’s a 10-play drive or a 90-yard pass, the Tide will torch Florida’s defense.

However, Florida is a wild card. They have a great offense when everything works, but they have questions at quarterback. Will Emory Jones get another shot to take over? If so, the under is more likely to hit.

However, expect them to start Anthony Richardson. He has more physical gifts and can take over with his legs. This makes it more likely for the Gators to get points on the board, making the over more likely.

Alabama will likely score over 40 points, and Florida can score a couple of touchdowns. That would be enough for the over to hit, and it’s also likely that the Gators turn this into a barn-burner.

Michigan State Spartans vs. Miami (FL) Hurricanes

Saturday, September 18, 2021 - 12:00 PM EDT at Hard Rock Stadium

The Hurricanes had a bad performance against Alabama to start the year, and they barely won last week. Because of that, most sports betting sites are down on the Hurricanes. Michigan State is also coming into this game with two easy wins, so you can see why the Hurricanes aren’t heavily favored.

They’re expected to win, but an upset remains in the picture.

Still, I expect the Hurricanes to pull off the win at home for my college football pick here. They don’t have to make it look pretty. They just need D’Eriq King and the Miami offense to put enough points on the board to get a win.

NCAAF Pick: Michigan State ML -240 at Bovada
