The storylines that will come out of this game will be legendary. The Duke Blue Devils are already in the Final Four and need an opponent. Whoever wins this NCAAB game between St. Peter’s and North Carolina will get Duke.

Of course, Duke and North Carolina are huge rivals and North Carolina knocked off Duke, on the road, in the regular season, during Coach K’s final home game as head coach of Duke.

Meanwhile, St. Peter’s is a 15-seed that already did the unimaginable. The Peacocks beat Kentucky, Murray State, and Purdue to make it to the Elite Eight. Will the Peacocks win another game against blue blood? Below, we’ll break down the NCAAB odds and share a winning pick!

St. Peter’s Peacocks vs. North Carolina Tar Heels

Sunday, March 27, 2022 – 05:05 PM EDT at Wells Fargo Center

The Peacocks were never an amazing offense. St. Peter’s is shooting just a 48% effective field goal percentage while knocking down 34.8% from deep and 46.1% from inside the arc. St. Peter’s is also turning the ball over 20.4% of the time but North Carolina, on the other hand, rarely forces turnovers to begin with.

The Peacocks have been terrific on the glass this year, earning 31.4% of offensive rebounds but against North Carolina, those second chances might be a bit harder to come by.

Also, the Peacocks have been terrific at the line foul this season and get there often but overall, might struggle a bit against UNC to get an above-average of attempts at the foul line.

Still, the Tar Heels allow 34.1% from deep and give up 48% from inside. The Peacocks will have opportunities to score, especially from long range. Meanwhile, St. Peter’s is holding teams to 29.3% from deep and 44.3% from inside. It’s not going to be easy for North Carolina to score consistently either.

The Tar Heels are shooting 36.3% from deep and 50.8% from inside the arc. Plus, the Tar Heels should be able to earn some offensive rebounds over St. Peter’s. But North Carolina has struggled with pressure in the full court and watched a massive lead against Baylor dwindle because of it. That pressure from St. Peter’s could be a game-changer and should keep St. Peter’s in the game.

With that said, for my college basketball pick, I like St. Peter’s to continue to be a covering machine. The Peacocks should get some solid looks from deep in this game and the pressure defensively should ultimately get to North Carolina. The Tar Heels will limit second chances for St. Peter’s but won’t end up forcing St. Peter’s into many mistakes. If anything, St. Peter’s will win more turnovers in this game.

The Peacocks are catching teams off guard with really good toughness and defense. I’m not sure North Carolina can handle it. They’ve made more mistakes than St. Peters has in the NCAA Tournament. St. Peter’s won’t be scared. They’ve got nothing to lose. North Carolina has everything to lose.
