Richmond Spiders vs. Charleston Cougars

Monday, November 14, 2022 – 07:00 PM EST at TD Arena

The Richmond Spiders will take a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, for an intriguing mid-major matchup.

Teams Analysis

Charleston is coming off a 102-86 loss to North Carolina but already defeated Chattanooga to begin the season, 85-78. Meanwhile, Richmond has two straight victories to start the year, with wins over VMI and Northern Iowa.

Charleston’s defense has struggled to begin the year. The Cougars have allowed teams to shoot a 60.7% effective field goal percentage and have given tons of opportunities at the foul line. In two games, Charleston has allowed teams to shoot 70.4% around the time.

Meanwhile, Richmond is already shooting 65.3% inside the arc and has been getting to the line at a very high rate. Richmond is shooting a 52.4% effective field goal percentage and is turning the ball over under 16% of the time.

The Cougars, on the other side, are still shooting an effective field goal percentage of 53.7%. However, Richmond has held its first two opponents to a 32.8% effective field goal percentage. The first two opponents for the Spiders have combined to shoot 18.2% from downtown and 37.1% from inside the arc.

The Moneyline Pick

Richmond should easily get better looks in this game and will more than likely see the foul line more as well.

Following the NCAAB odds, I’m backing Richmond on the moneyline.

DePaul Blue Demons vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers

Monday, November 14, 2022 - 07:00 PM EST at Williams Arena

The DePaul Blue Demons will visit the Minnesota Golden Gophers in an exciting start to the Gavitt Tipoff Games Tournament.

Teams Analysis

DePaul has knocked off Loyola Maryland and Western Illinois to begin the year. Meanwhile, Minnesota has wins against Western Michigan and St. Francis NY. Minnesota’s win against Western Michigan was by one point but they regrouped against St. Francis.

Heading into this game, Minnesota is shooting just 52.4% from the foul line. That’s usually not good news if you’re looking to back the Over.

Meanwhile, Minnesota is currently limiting teams from getting to the foul line. The Golden Gophers have also held their opponents to 24.1% from deep and 47.2% from inside the arc. DePaul’s defense has kept teams to 32% from three and 43.7% from inside the arc.

The Over/Under Pick

We might see some offensive rebounds and second chances for both teams. But the offenses will more than likely cool off now that they’re facing tougher competition.

Neither team is going to dominate out in the fast break because both teams haven’t even earned a high turnover rate.

Let’s take the Under 135 in this game at one of the best sportsbooks.

Butler Bulldogs vs. Penn State Nittany Lions

Monday, November 14, 2022 - 08:30 PM EST at Bryce Jordan Center

The next game in the Gavitt Tipoff Games will include Butler against Penn State.

Teams Analysis

Butler defeated New Orleans, 89-53 for their only game of the season. Meanwhile, Penn State has earned terrific wins over Winthrop and Loyola Maryland, where the Nittany Lions scored at least 90 points in each game.

The Nittany Lions are ranked first in effective field goal percentage, shooting 70.9%. Meanwhile, Butler earned over 37% of turnovers against New Orleans in their first game of the season. They’ll be good at forcing turnovers but won’t get close to that number against Penn State.

The Nittany Lions are shooting 50% from downtown and 65.3% from inside the arc. Butler dominated New Orleans, but still allowed them to shoot 37.5% from downtown in that game. Penn State should get some wide-open looks from three and nail them.

On the other hand, the Bulldogs shot just 16.7% from downtown against New Orleans. They were dominant inside the arc, scoring 80% of their shots. But Penn State’s defense is going to be much better around the paint than from deep.

The Spread Pick

Neither team is going to earn a high rate of offensive rebounds and second chances. But Butler’s likely going to shoot a worse percentage from the foul line in this game, after only hitting 61.9% from the foul line against New Orleans.

Let’s back Penn State at -5.
