Florida Atlantic Owls vs. UAB Blazers

Thursday, February 02, 2023 – 07:00 PM EST at Bartow Arena

If you haven’t paid attention to the Conference USA, you should start. The Florida Atlantic Owls have won 20 straight games and are 21-1 on the season. The team is 11-0 in conference play and already has a win against the UAB Blazers earlier this year.

If there’s one game where the Owls could lose, it’s likely this one, going up against UAB, on the road.

Teams Analysis

Florida Atlantic Owls

UAB is 15-7 on the season but is just 6-5 in conference play. Yet, the Blazers are even against the spread. The Blazers have actually lost five of their last eight games this season but that loss to Florida Atlantic was by just two points on the road. The game finished with FAU winning 88-86.

The Owls are now ranked 19th in the nation. The offense is playing extremely efficiently. Florida Atlantic has added 37.3% from deep and 52.9% from inside the arc.

Still, the Owls are shooting below 70% from the foul line. That could come down to haunt them in closer games down the stretch.

Florida Atlantic has still been able to limit turnovers to 17.2% and the Owls have hauled in 31.1% of offensive rebounding, giving them solid opportunities for second chances.

UAB Blazers

Meanwhile. UAB has struggled to defend the three, giving up 34.4% from downtown this year. Inside the arc, the Blazers have allowed 45.9% from the field. That’s where they’ve excelled defensively.

UAB is also earning over 20% of turnovers on the defensive end but it won’t be easy earning turnovers against an FAU team that is usually pretty good at holding onto the ball.

Florida Atlantic has scored over 38% of its points from downtown. That’s the one area where UAB has really struggled. Therefore, I like Florida Atlantic to have success from the three-point line in this game.

On the other hand, UAB’s offense is terrible inside the arc. The Blazers have shot 48.1% from inside the arc, but have earned 37.2% of offensive rebounds and usually get to the foul line at a very high rate. The Blazers are a very fast-paced offense and try to do all the little things well to win games.

The Pick

FAU is fundamentally sound though. This team won’t make dumb errors like other teams. The Owls have held teams to 43.4% from inside the arc and have limited offensive rebounds to 24.8%.

Take FAU to keep their streak alive, on the road. For Owls fans looking to bet on this game, you can do it at our top Florida betting sites.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Thursday, February 02, 2023 - 07:00 PM EST at Value City Arena

Teams Analysis

Wisconsin Badgers

The Wisconsin Badgers aren’t having the best of times right now. The Badgers have lost four of their last five games, including a ten-point loss to Illinois last time out. Meanwhile, Ohio State has also lost four of its last five games. They’ve lost their last two on the road but will be home for tonight’s game. In those five games, one win came at home while the other four losses were on the road.

The Badgers have struggled in most areas offensively. Wisconsin has hit just 45.7% from inside the arc, 66.3% from the foul line, and has only earned 21.3% offensive rebounds.

The team isn’t even getting to the foul line often but at least the Badgers shoot 36.2% from three and rarely turn the ball over. Still, Ohio State has held opponents to 30.2% from downtown and 47.3% from inside the arc. The Buckeyes also don’t foul at a high rate either.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Then, on the offensive end, the Buckeyes are lethal. The offense has nailed 38.2% from downtown and 50.3% from inside the arc. They’ve earned 33.7% of offensive rebounds and limited turnovers to under 16%.

Like Wisconsin, Ohio State won’t get to the foul line at a high rate, but the offense does so many other things well and should keep that up, especially on their home floor.

Wisconsin has held teams to 33.2% from three and 49.9% from inside the arc. The Badgers also won’t allow a heavy amount of offensive rebounds, but Ohio State should still have more success offensively in this game.

The Pick

If the Buckeyes outscore the Badgers by two points every ten minutes, they’ll cover the 7.5-point spread.
