Georgetown Hoyas vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Wednesday, November 30, 2022 – 08:00 PM EST at United Supermarkets Arena
Georgetown’s Patrick Ewing came into the season on the coaching hot seat, and one way to cool things down would be for his Hoyas to grab an upset on the road over a nationally recognized program like the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
While Ewing is looking to impress his bosses at Georgetown, Mark Adams and the Red Raiders will try and impress any voters who might be tuning into the matchup after the team dropped from the rankings with a couple of losses at the Maui Invitational.
Georgetown Big Road 'Dogs in Lubbock
It adds up to what could be a very entertaining contest, at least for bettors. Oddsmakers have added things up to it being a very one-sided affair with the Red Raiders favored by 17-17½ and most shops carrying 137.5 for the total.
Both Teams Running 2-4 O/U in Totals Column
Following an embarrassing loss to American University, Georgetown managed to bounce back with a 79-70 win over Maryland-Baltimore County this past Saturday, though the final wasn’t quite enough to cover a 10-point spread.
Losing to American a week ago could ultimately lead to Ewing’s pink slip at his alma mater. Georgetown was favored by up to 14 points and had won 11 in a row over the Eagles, that streak stretching back to 1983.
Texas Tech’s trip to Hawaii was spoiled by a couple of losses to a very good Creighton team and a pretty good Ohio State squad, the only highlight other than just being in Maui coming in a rout of a very bad Louisville team that easily covered a 13.5-point spread at the best sportsbooks.
First Regular Season Meeting
This is the third time Georgetown and Texas Tech have gotten together, with the previous two collisions taking place during March Madness at the 1986 and 1996 NCAA Tournaments. The Hoyas won both of those meetings.
That’s a lot of points for the Red Raiders to cover, even against a Hoyas team that has often looked lost on the court. I’ll play the ‘Under’ trend for both sides to continue.
Providence Friars vs. TCU Horned Frogs
Wednesday, November 30, 2022 - 08:00 PM EST at Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena
There is a lot of excitement around the TCU campus this week, but very little of the buzz has anything to do with the Providence Friars coming to Ft. Worth for a hardwood clash with the Horned Frogs.
Can Providence Pull Off Another Upset at TCU?
BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review) sent the Horned Frogs out as 6-point favorites, and the spread shot up to -7.5 before settling in at -6.5 on the morning line. There has been a very subtle rise in the total that opened 135 before reaching 135.5 overnight.
This will be the third meeting between Providence and TCU. They met in the inter-conference challenge two short years ago, that game was also played in Ft. Worth where the Friars grabbed a 79-70 win as small underdogs.
The Horned Frogs, who are 1-2 in the interconference event, posted a 79-77 win at Providence in the only other matchup. The Friars are a perfect 3-0 in the Big 12-Big East Battle.
TCU to Welcome Baugh Back to the Floor
Following last year’s run into the Sweet 16, there was a lot of hype surrounding Providence coming into the season. The Friars have not lived up to that hype with all 5 wins coming against teams ranking no higher than 226 on the KenPom list and covering just 2 of those.
The Horned Frogs are back home after winning the Emerald Coast Classic, taking down California and Iowa in the process while moving to 5-1 overall. Like Providence, TCU has had trouble covering the NCAAB odds (2-4 ATS).
There is some good news and bad news for the Horned Frogs. They should get Damion Baugh back on the floor for this game after serving a 6-game suspension due to some silly NCAA rule, but forward Emanuel Miller is questionable with a back injury that has already cost him 2 games.
Home Crowd Helps TCU
Getting Baugh back should provide a lift for TCU. The senior out of Nashville was second on the team in scoring a year ago and led the Horned Frogs in assists.
Let’s add a free college basketball pick on the home side in this one.
