Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Creighton Bluejays
Monday, November 21, 2022 – 02:30 PM EST at Lahaina Civic Center
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will take on the Creighton Bluejays in a top-25 ranked matchup in Hawaii for the Maui Jim Maui Invitational. Both teams are coming into this game undefeated.
Creighton has knocked off a bunch of low-ranked opponents. They’ll now have Texas Tech and Texas in back-to-back games. Meanwhile, Texas Tech has 3 wins to begin the year. The Red Raiders’ win over Louisiana Tech was a top-150 win for the program.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Texas Tech is led by Kevin Obanor, who has averaged 12.3 points per game. The offense has shot a 55.2% practical field goal percentage but has also turned the ball over 25.1% of the time. Creighton is only earning 17.9% of turnovers this season. Therefore, the Red Raiders can slightly limit the turnovers in this game.
But while Texas Tech has earned 29.2% of offensive rebounds, Creighton has only allowed 14.8% of offensive rebounds this season. The Bluejays also have limited teams from getting to the foul line early this season. However, Creighton has allowed teams to shoot 38.4% from downtown. Texas Tech isn’t taking many 2, but they’re still making them at 35.8%.
Meanwhile, Creighton’s offense has scored a 57.7% effective field goal percentage, led by Ryan Kalkbrenner. Kalkbrenner has scored 16.5 points per game as the center for Creighton. He averaged 80.6% from the field and hit 85.7% from the foul line.
Creighton’s not getting to the foul line consistently and has hit foul shots just 65.5% of the time this season. Still, the Bluejays have limited turnovers to 11.7% and have earned 35.7% of offensive rebounds. They’re also shooting over 35% from deep and over 61% from inside the arc.
Texas Tech has always been known for its defense. They’ve held teams to 25.6% from deep and 39.2% from inside the arc.
Therefore, I’m rocking with the Under at the best sportsbooks in today’s game. Creighton should limit offensive rebounds and foul shots, while Texas Tech should hold Creighton from the field.
Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Arizona Wildcats
Monday, November 21, 2022 - 11:30 PM EST at Lahaina Civic Center
The Cincinnati Bearcats lost their first road game of the season to Northern Kentucky, 64-51. Now they’ll try and take down the Arizona Wildcats on a neutral court in Hawaii. On the other hand, the Arizona Wildcats have knocked off three below-average teams to begin the year. They’ve scored at least 95 points in every single game this season.
The Wildcats are trending in the right direction, while the Bearcats are heading opposite. Cincinnati has shot a 43.9% effective field goal percentage, shooting 26.5% from deep and 46.3% from inside the arc. The Bearcats have also hit just 67.2% from the foul line and have seen over 13% of their shots get blocked.
Arizona will not force turnovers, but they’ll force tough shots. Teams shoot 34.2% from deep but 39.3% from inside the arc. The Bearcats aren’t going to take a ton of threes. They’d instead score inside. They’ll struggle against Arizona for most of the game doing that.
On the other hand, Arizona has an effective field goal percentage of 71.8%, which is the best percentage in college basketball. They’re getting to the foul line at a very high rate and shooting over 46% from downtown while scoring 72.8% inside the arc.
Arizona’s turned the ball over 24.5% of the time. That’s its only blemish. But the Bearcats have only turned the ball over 17.8% of the time. The Bearcats have also allowed teams to shoot 38.6% from downtown.
Arizona is led by Azuolas Tubelis, who has scored 20 points per game on 78.1% from the field. He’s been terrific and should lead Arizona throughout the season.
Following the NCAAB odds, let’s back the Arizona Wildcats in a rout.
Cincinnati lost by double-digits to Northern Kentucky. I could only imagine what’s going to happen against Arizona.
