Can the Auburn Tigers continue its winning streak at home against a tough Kentucky Wildcats team? Here’s our best bet for Saturday’s Game of the Day. Let’s break down the NCAAB odds for this matchup!

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Auburn Tigers

Saturday, January 22, 2022 – 1:00 PM EST at Auburn Arena

Today’s game between the Kentucky Wildcats and Auburn Tigers should be one of the best games on the slate. The Kentucky Wildcats and Auburn Tigers are the two best teams in the SEC and they’ll square off in what will more than likely be one of many games between these two teams this season.

Kentucky and Auburn only play one game between each other this season, but there's a big chance these teams find each other again in the SEC Tournament or the NCAA Tournament. Auburn hasn’t lost since November 24, after losing a double-overtime game to Connecticut on a neutral court. Auburn is literally 17-1 on the season and could easily still be undefeated if a couple of rolls went their way.

Meanwhile, Kentucky has won eight of its last nine games with just a road loss to LSU. The Wildcats are shooting an effective field goal percentage of 54.9 percent while earning 40 percent offensive rebounds on the season. Kentucky is shooting 35.3 percent from long range and 55.7 percent from inside the arc.

You won’t see Kentucky get to the line at a high rate, however, Auburn’s an aggressive defense and will send opponents to the line at a high rate. Teams love getting to the line against Auburn because it’s extremely hard to score against Auburn, to begin with.

Opponents have an effective field goal percentage of 44.5 percent and turn the ball over at a 22.3 percent rate. Auburn has literally held teams to 31.3 percent from three and just 43 percent from two, which is a top 10 number in all of college basketball. Meanwhile, Auburn’s offense is just as stellar.

The Tigers are shooting an effective field goal percentage of 52.6 percent but have limited turnovers to just 15.9 percent. They’ve earned 32 percent offensive rebounds and are shooting 34.2 percent from long distance and 53.5 percent from inside the arc.

Kentucky’s defense will get stops, however, allowing just a 45.2 percent effective field goal percentage. Opponents are hitting just 29.7 percent from three and 45.5 percent from inside the arc on the season. Rebounds will be hard to come by on the offensive end for Auburn but the Tigers should win the turnover battle in this game.

This game is as close as it gets. However, with Auburn being at home, for my NCAAB picks, I like the Tigers to pull away. If the Tigers are able to limit turnovers and shoot at an average rate, they’ll have every chance in this game to win.

Ultimately, Auburn has the better defense and that should be what sends Kentucky home with a loss.
