Davidson hasn’t lost since mid-November this season. Can the win streak survive a road tilt against Richmond? Here is all you need to know for your college basketball picks.

Davidson Wildcats vs. Richmond Spiders

Friday, January 14, 2022 – 09:00 PM EST at Robins Center

The Davidson Wildcats haven’t lost a game since November 18, but they’ll be putting that streak on the line, on the road, against the Richmond Spiders.

Davidson is shooting an effective field goal percentage of 57.6% while turning the ball over just 14.1% of the time this year.

The Wildcats won’t dominate the offensive glass and rarely get to the line, but offensively, Davidson is fundamentally sound with finding quality looks on the floor. Davidson has hit 41.% of three-point attempts while also hitting 54.6% of shots inside the arc on the season.

Again, Davidson doesn’t get to the line at a high rate, but the Wildcats have shot 75.9% from the foul line, which is also a top 50 number in college basketball.

Richmond’s defense isn’t spectacular either. The Spiders are allowing teams to shoot an effective field goal percentage of 50.6% as opponents are hitting 35.1% of threes against them.

That’s not going to be a good thing, facing Davidson.

The Spiders should be fine on the defensive glass and usually keep away from fouling at a high rate. However, on the offensive end, Richmond has the same weaknesses as Davidson.

Richmond shoots a 52.8% effective field goal percentage while only turning the ball over 14.3% of the time. However, the Spiders struggle to offensive rebound well and also don’t get to the line at a high rate.

The Spiders still shoot at an above-average rate but don’t shoot it nearly as effectively as Davidson. Richmond has hit 34.9% from three and 53.3% from inside the arc.

Plus, Richmond is shooting just 68.6% from the foul line this season.

Everything that Davidson does, they do it slightly better than Richmond. Neither team is very deep and neither team will play guys with two fouls in the first half. Really, these teams are very similar in how they do everything, except for the fact that Davidson has the clear height advantage in this game.

I will say Richmond has more experience, but Davidson’s win streak has helped the Wildcats look just as experienced on the court. So with this game sitting at a pick-em at the NCAAB odds, it only makes sense to ride with Davidson here.

Richmond has lost two of their last three games this season and was absolutely rocked by Saint Joseph’s to start that three-game stretch.

The Spiders rebounded well against UMass after taking a loss to Saint Joseph’s and Saint Louis, but all in all, Davidson continues to shoot lights out and has scored at least 70 points in every single win this season.

I don’t see how the Wildcats can’t score another 70 points against Richmond, so give me Davidson on the money line, -112, at one of BMR's top-rated sportsbooks.
