There’s a limited card for Thursday, December 16 in college basketball. But I’ve found a play I’ll sprinkle some money on for tonight. Let’s break down the NCAAB odds for this matchup!

Tennessee State Tigers vs. Charleston Southern Buccaneers

Thursday, December 16, 2021 – 8:00 PM EST at The Buc Dome

Tonight’s basketball slate is extremely boring. I’m not going to sit here and lie. However, I found a play that I’ll sprinkle some money on. This isn’t an official play for me. I don’t have one today. Anyway, if I had to choose one play, this is the game I’ll bet on.

The Tennessee State Tigers will have the much better offense in this game. The Tigers are shooting a 50.2 percent effective field goal percentage and have hit 37.2 percent from downtown on the season.

The Tigers are also earning 29.3 percent rebounds on the offensive glass and still get to the line at an above-average rate. Meanwhile, Charleston Southern has been terrible defensively to start the year.

Teams are shooting a 55.9 percent effective field goal percentage on the year. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are struggling to force turnovers at a high rate and ultimately, just can’t get stops. The Buccaneers are allowing close to 80 points per game while opponents hit 38.2 percent from long range and 55.2 percent from inside.

To be fair, Charleston Southern is been playing teams that love to shoot from long range. Tennessee State is going to put up three-dozen threes but when they do, the shots go in at 37.2 percent. On the other hand, Charleston Southern is shooting an effective field goal percentage of 41.4 percent.

Turnovers are high, offensive rebounds are low and the Buccaneers rarely get to the foul line. Against Tennessee State, Charleston Southern will get to the line more frequently, but the Buccaneers shoot just 62.8 percent from the foul line.

Then, from three, the Buccaneers shot 23.7 percent on the season. Even inside, the Buccaneers are shooting 62.8 percent. Tennessee State is very capable of forcing turnovers, gaining 21.5 percent turnovers per game. The Tigers have also been able to limit threes to 30.7 percent from opponents this season.

This isn’t going to be an exciting game from a fan standpoint. But it could become an interesting and fun game once it begins. Charleston Southern is currently one of the worst teams in the league.

At times, the Buccaneers have done well on the defensive glass and they’ve done well-limiting fouls. But overall, there’s just so much inconsistency with this program right now. Tennessee State matches up well in this game. It’s going to be a fast-paced game.

And in a fast-paced game, if you’ve got better shooters and can earn more turnovers, you’ll be in good shape. For our NCAAB pick tonight, give me Tennessee State on the moneyline -110.
