Golden State Warriors vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Saturday, December 11, 2021 – 08:30 PM EST at Wells Fargo Center

Last year, critics were talking about how the Warriors dynasty was over. Social media was all up in arms about Steph Curry not being great anymore without Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.

But he’s changed that narrative extremely fast. Steph Curry is leading the Warriors and currently, Golden State is 21-4 to start the season. Now the Warriors will take on the 76ers, on the road, looking for their 22nd win of the season.

Betting Analysis

The Warriors are scoring 113.3 points per 100 possessions with an effective field goal percentage of 56.3 percent. While the Warriors turn the ball over 16 percent of the time, the 76ers aren’t a true threat in forcing turnovers to begin with. Golden State still does well enough on the offensive glass, earning 26.5 percent offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are average at getting to the line with an 18.1 free throw rate. Stephen Curry is averaging 27.5 points per game for the Warriors to lead the team while only shooting 43.9 percent from the field. Draymond Green isn’t a walking triple-double, but he’s always extremely close to it and helps the Warriors stick to their game plan night after night.

Defensively, the Warriors are the best in the NBA, allowing a league-leading 100.8 points per 100 possessions this season. The Warriors are also holding teams to just a 49.9 percent effective field goal percentage on the season as well. Not only that, but Golden State is forcing 16.4 percent turnovers and earning 23.2 percent defensive rebounds on the season.

Expert Prediction

On the other hand, the 76ers will have some skewed numbers with all of the players who missed multiple weeks with protocols. However, the 76ers are still limiting turnovers on the offensive end with just 13.1 percent.

They’ve also scored 111.3 points per 100 possessions while shooting an effective field goal percentage of 52.9 percent. You won’t find the 76ers dominating the offensive glass, but they will stay aggressive and get to the line at a high rate.

On the defensive end, the 76ers have been slightly below average, allowing 109.8 points per 100 possessions. They’re also allowing teams to shoot a 51.9 percent effective field goal percentage.

However, again, the rebounding for the 76ers has not been elite and that might burn the 76ers out of winning this game at home.

Expert Pick

The Warriors aren’t 21-4 for no reason. This team has looked sensational on the offensive end while leading the league on the defensive end.

The 76ers will struggle on the glass against the Warriors and although the 76ers will find the free throw line at a higher rate, there’s a good chance the 76ers turn the ball over more frequently than they’re used to.

Therefore, I’ll side with the Warriors at -1.5. The line has moved from -4 to -1.5 and that’s enough for me to roll with Golden State for my NBA pick tonight.
