The Suns and Warriors tip-off the third of five Christmas Day NBA games and despite some heavy line movement over the last 36 hours, there is still some value in these NBA odds.

Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns

Saturday, December 25, 2021 – 05:00 PM EST at Footprint Center

Third Time’s the Charm

This will be the third meeting between these two this season and all of them have come over the last month.

Phoenix famously kept their winning streak alive against the Warriors last month, only to have it come crashing down in blowout fashion as the Warriors routed them in their second meeting.

This time will be different though. In the last game, Phoenix was coming off a back-to-back and on the road, whereas they’ll be at home and rested for this matchup.

Now, however, the Warriors are dealing with way more health and safety protocols than they were in their last game, so the top-rated sportsbooks have the Suns as solid -5 favorites in this one.

Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins remain out as of Christmas Eve and assuming that doesn’t change, we are looking at an excellent betting opportunity with this total.

Both of these two teams’ first meetings were very low-scoring and with the Warriors missing very important offensive pieces here, this one should follow the same path.

Normally in the NBA when teams meet for a second, third, or even fourth time, they have enough experience and tape on one another to predict what the other will do on offense.

Add in that these are two of the best defensive teams in the entire league and the under is the only way to go for this matchup.

The Sharp Pick

While some of the other games this Christmas are just fun matchups between big/bigger market teams, the matchup between the Dubs and Suns is probably the only one that has a chance to be a Conference Finals preview.

So far this season, the Suns and Dubs have excelled on both ends of the court, but in this playoff-style game where both teams are meeting for the third time, I can’t see that many points being scored.

It’s an early-afternoon start time and a national TV game, so hopefully, stout defense mixed with a slower start on offense will be all we need to cash the under here.

The pace concerns me some, but, considering all the other factors, it’s the only thing that could doom our play here.

Considering these two teams rank 1st and 2nd in defensive rating this season, allowing less than 103 points per 100 possessions, I’m adding the under to my NBA picks for Christmas Day.
