The NBA standings are starting to shape up and the Los Angeles Lakers are currently out of the playoffs. I’ve got some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that the Lakers will be adding LeBron James and Anthony Davis back into the lineup.

The bad news is that you can’t trust anyone. It’s April Fools’ Day. What if those two don’t actually return tonight and are playing a joke on us?

Bet you didn’t think of that… Anyway, here’s a little two-team parlay for today’s NBA slate that I’ve put together. Let’s see what the NBA odds for these matchups tell us!

Boston Celtics vs. Indiana Pacers

Friday, April 01, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at TD Garden

Most games today have some heavy spreads. So instead of worrying about the spread for this game, I’m looking at the total.

The Celtics are -15 favorites and should dominate on their home floor. Boston is slowly rising up on the NBA Championship future odds board and with the way the Nets and 76ers are playing in the East, the Celtics are a legitimate threat.

The Pacers aren’t going to blow anyone away offensively but should be able to earn plenty of second chances in this game.

The Pacers are earning 29.4% offensive rebounds per game, which is third in the NBA. Meanwhile, the Celtics are allowing teams to earn 26.1% offensive rebounds, which is 17th in the NBA.

Lately, the Pacers have looked solid offensively and have just looked absolutely dreadful on the defensive end.

The Pacers have allowed 125 or more points in each of their last four games. In three of those four games, at least 131 points were scored by the opposition.

With the over sitting at 225, for my NBA picks, I’m grabbing the over to start the parlay.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Friday, April 01, 2022 – 10:30 PM EDT at Arena

I’m a sucker. I’m taking the Lakers on the moneyline. I’m going to join the public here. I don’t really care. I don’t think we’re being fooled.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James will return to the Lakers lineup in a crucial game against the New Orleans Pelicans who are just a couple of games above the Lakers in the standings.

The Lakers are currently outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs and there’s just no way that LeBron James and Anthony Davis allow the Lakers to miss the playoffs this season.

James has been injured a bunch of times this year and rarely ever got injured previously. He’s had no help with Anthony Davis consistently out as well.

But now it’s time to peak. It’s time to get going. The Pelicans might have some success on the offensive glass but overall aren’t taking the best shots, shooting a 51.9% effective field goal percentage.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are taking quality looks but ultimately missing those shots. With two of the best players in the league back in the starting lineup, the Lakers should start to hit open shots and just flat out play better.

For my best bets, I’m not afraid of riding with the Lakers tonight. The public wins sometimes too!
