The Boston Celtics are in a spot in which they barely have been this season… a bounce-back spot. The Celtics have been on a tear, absolutely crushing everybody, and asserting dominance at the top of the NBA. Then they hit a roadblock, the team they couldn't beat in the NBA finals last season, the Golden State Warriors.
Even though the Warriors have had a slow start to the season and the Celtics are head and shoulders above the rest of the league, the Warriors were able to get a statement win against the Celtics at home.
The Warriors' good fortune is the Clippers' bad fortune. Rather than face a Celtics team that might be enjoying the LA nightlife, and resting on their laurels after a wildly successful road trip, they're going to take on an angry, focused Celtics team. And of course, the head of this team, the leader of this team, is Jayson Tatum.
If the Celtics had won in Golden State, this was not a spot I would have targeted at all, as it is the end of a long west coast road trip. But the misfortune of the Clippers gives us an opportunity to take advantage of a Celtics team that we know will be focused.

Last year, the Celtics rode their defense to the top. This year the team is more offensively oriented. The quicker pace the team is playing is leading the higher point totals and Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been the beneficiaries.

The Washington Wizards have struggled to defend for the past 5 years, and Kevin Durant will be the latest beneficiary of their lack of defense tonight. Although the Wizards have beefed up at the forward position, no player will be able to give Durant trouble as he intends to show out in front of his friends and family.

Kevin Durant's name has slipped from the MVP conversation, even though he is still one of the top players in the world. Durant is aware of this and tonight he will put forth an effort to make sure that he is once again rightly named at the top of the NBA's list of best players. Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Portland Trail Blazers

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers run it back after a 124-118 win by the Blazers on Saturday night. Damian Lillard scored 40 points in the win and made 9 3-pointers. This is illustrative of how you want to attack the Timberwolves. Attack their weaker guard defense, do not drive toward the rim.
Although Rudy Gobert is often maligned, he is still a good defender, especially down low. Jusuf Nurkic is a fine post player, but there's no reason to attack the strength of the Minnesota Timberwolves' defense.
The Trail Blazers will continue to rely on Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons, who scored 31 points on Saturday night. With Simons and Lillard able to dominate their matchups, there is no reason to feed Nurkic in the post.
The Pick
Nurkic is a fine player for the Trail Blazers and they definitely will need his defense on the court tonight. Unfortunately, he will be the last option on offense but we will take advantage of that for a third-player prop. Our final player prop for the evening is Jusuf Nurkic under 13.5 points.
