The Indiana Pacers head to Miami to take on the Heat. Both teams have suffered injuries, but the Heat have it much worse. Can Indiana take advantage of a weakened Miami Heat team? Which team is the right NBA pick? But what about the NBA odds?

Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat

Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers are off to a disappointing start but injuries have definitely contributed. The Pacers have yet to have their projected starting lineup in the game with T.J. Warren out with a foot injury. They have also suffered injuries to T.J. McConnell, Malcolm Brogdon, and Caris LeVert. The Merry-Go-Round nature of their backcourt has made it hard for the team to establish continuity in the half-court.

One thing I can count on in the half-court, however, is the play of Domantas Sabonis. Sabonis is excellent in the half-court and leads the team in rebounds. Domantas Sabonis is excellent in the post and has a nice mid-range game as well. The play of Sabonis has been a bright spot for the Pacers this season. Caris Levert is a big part of how the Pacers want to attack opposing defenses in the half-court. He has the speed and handles to beat his man off the dribble and has a nice outside shot. Levert’s versatility has been a welcome addition to the Pacers’ offense.

Sabonis is paired in the middle with center Myles Turner who has expressed displeasure with his role. Turner wants more than his current hybrid role as a 3 and D center. Turner has excellent rim protection ability and is the anchor of the Indiana defense. With trade rumors swirling around Sabonis, Turner, and Levert; and dissatisfaction spreading among the locker room, the Pacers are a tough team to get a read on right now.

Miami Heat

As bad as the Pacers injury situation has been, the Miami Heat are currently in an even worse situation. Miami is missing their top 2 players, Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler. The Heat are also missing their defensive specialist P.J. Tucker. To make matters worse, leading Sixth Man of the Year candidate Tyler Herro is questionable for this game as well.

The Heat will be able to rely on Kyle Lowry and Duncan Robinson. Players such as Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, and Dewayne Dedmon have been thrust into pivotal roles for the team's success. The Heat pride themselves on being the best-conditioned team in basketball and have the most stringent fitness requirements for any team in the NBA. In spite of the loss of their leaders, the

Heat have remained competitive. This is a credit to the coaching of Erik Spoelstra and the on-court leadership of Kyle Lowry. The Heat are hoping to tread water while they wait for their best players to return to health. The Heat will see tonight's game as an opportunity to get a win over a fractured Pacers team.

The Heat are always much stronger at home. Even with the roster in a diminished capacity, the Heat will make a strong attempt to protect their home court.

Key Matchup

Kyle Lowry vs. Malcolm Brogdon

Kyle Lowry and Malcolm Brogdon are both responsible for setting the tone for their teams on the offensive end. Lowry and Brogdon are also are excellent defenders that like to deny their opponents at the point of attack. Lowry’s ability to lead the offense in the half-court offense will be key to the Heat’s chances tonight. Lowry will need to identify the hot hand and encourage his teammates.

The Pacers can withstand an off night by Brogdon, but Kyle Lowry will be absolutely crucial to his team's success. If Brogdon is able to keep a Lowry in check, the Pacers have an excellent chance to win a tough road game. If Lowry is able to have a big night, his teammates will feed off him and the Heat have a good chance to get the win.

Best Bet

As good as the Heat and "Heat Culture'' are, I believe they're too shorthanded to take on a talented Pacers squad tonight. Although the Pacers have chemistry issues, the talent advantage will be on display with the current condition of the rosters.

Other teams have taken advantage of the Pacers when they were missing multiple stars, now the Pacers get their chance to return the favor. For our best bets, my play of the day for tonight is the Indiana Pacers.
