It’s time to break down the Southeast division in the NBA. The Miami Heat have owned that division recently, but other teams in that division have improved and will be looking to at least make the division a bit more competitive.

Last season, the Heat won the division by ten games. The Hawks were second on the list with 43 wins. The Hornets also had 43 wins and made the postseason play-in tournament.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards added 35 wins, while the Orlando Magic won just 22 games last season. How will these five teams perform heading into this year’s season? Let’s take a look at season win totals for each team in this division.

Miami Heat

Although the Miami Heat won 53 games last year, top-rated sportsbooks think the Heat will struggle to earn even 50 wins this year. The Heat is sitting at a win total of 48.5 despite ultimately having the same team as last year.

The rest of the NBA has improved, but the Heat will still have four of their five in the starting lineup this season, including Kyle Lowry, Max Strus, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo.

Same Roaster

PJ Tucker is no longer around, but while his defense and three-point shooting in the corner is critical, he is somewhat replaceable. The depth on the bench includes Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Victor Oladipo, Caleb Martin, and a couple of big men.

Maybe, rookie Nikola Jovic will get a role with this team early. I don’t think the Heat will ever win a championship with this roster. However, this team was very consistent last year with nearly the same starting five.

They’ve got true chemistry and are led by an outstanding coach. Give me the Over 48.5 for the Heat.

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have improved dating back to last season. The Hawks brought in Dejounte Murray to pair with Trae Young in the backcourt.

They’ve still got De’Andre Hunter at forward to go along with John Collins and Clint Capela. The starting rotation looks lethal, and if everyone stays healthy, it could be as high as a 50-win team.

The depth isn’t all that exciting. Bogdan Bogdanovic will be the only returning player with ten or more points coming off the bench. That’s going to be the big question mark for the Hawks.

However, if the starting rotation is healthy and good to go, the Hawks should be able to get to 46 wins.

Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets have a lot of question marks this year. Charlotte has a lot of young talent that can truly develop this season. LaMelo Ball nearly averaged a triple-double last year at point guard.

Meanwhile, the Hornets still have legitimate scorers like Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward. We’ll have to see if guys like James Bouknight and J.T. Thor can improve after their rookie seasons last year.

Rookies like Bryce McGowens and Mark Williams could also have an impact this year. But the Hornets didn’t look to get much better during the offseason.

They could still make the playoffs, but they could’ve done damage with more additions to the squad. Take the under.

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards could end up being better than the Hornets this year. They added Monte Morris at point guard along with Delon Wright.

Will Barton will also be on this team as a shooting guard. That will help a healthy Bradley Beal score more points this year. He’s also got Corey Kispert, Kyle Kuzma, and Kristaps Porzingis in the starting lineup.

Rui Hachimura could end up coming off the bench, which would be sensational. He could actually win the sixth man of the year knowing his kind of potential.

With this team, it all comes down to health. On paper, they’ve got a roster that could be better than Charlotte’s. For that reason, I’ll take the over.

Orlando Magic

Orlando is very young but very talented. The Magic drafted Paolo Banchero with the first NBA pick in the NBA Draft this year.

He should be able to damage in the NBA along with Cole Anthony. Orlando’s starting lineup could have Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr., and Paolo Banchero.

All five of these players were insane college athletes that could transition into the NBA at any moment. The Magic also has some depth between Markelle Fultz, Terrence Ross, Mo Bamba, Moe Wagner, and RJ Hampton.

If these players played as they played in college, the Magic would be a super team! Banchero will change the culture. Following the NBA odds, let’s take the over 26.5.
