It’s Friday night which means there’s more NBA action on the slate. Let’s take a look at players we expect to have a big night, a down night, and cash more winning NBA picks from the best sportsbooks.
Indiana Pacers vs. Washington Wizards
Friday, October 28, 2022 – 07:30 PM EDT at Capital One Arena
Pacers Prop Bet: Tyrese Haliburton
- Over 18.5 Points
When the Indiana Pacers traded All-Star Domantas Sabonis for young, up-and-coming, prospect Tyrese Haliburton, it signaled the beginning of a rebuild for a franchise that had been a playoff-caliber team for decades. In the ultra-competitive NBA, it was a smart move, but the youth movement is causing the Pacers to struggle this season.
Because of the lack of options on the offensive end, Tyrese Haliburton has been soaking up usage for the young Indiana Pacers. Haliburton is an intelligent player who can score and distribute with equal aplomb. Tonight, against the fast-paced Washington Wizards, he has an opportunity to stuff the stat sheet.
Usually, player props are right around the player's season average. There is an interesting pricing move tonight. Tyrese Haliburton averages 22.6 points per game yet his point prop is only set at 18.5. This is quite curious, but we will take advantage of the missed price.
The Washington Wizards have a veteran team that will get up and down the floor. Yet they are vulnerable to scoring guards with their lack of defensive depth in the backcourt. Haliburton will have a big night and go over his point prop total. Our first bet for this Friday night is Tyrese Haliburton Over 18.5 points.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Toronto Raptors
Friday, October 28, 2022 - 07:30 PM EDT at Scotiabank Arena
76ers Prop Bet: Tyrese Maxey
- Under 18.5 Points
The Philadelphia 76ers are off to a slow start this season at 1-4. The Sixers are 25th in league rankings at 107.8 points per game. Their most recent game was a loss to this very team, the Toronto Raptors, on Wednesday night 119-109.
The Sixers came into the season expecting a big year of growth from Tyrese Maxey. While Maxey has not played badly, his development has been impeded by James Harden's desire to prove a point.
James Harden is an NBA superstar who came into the season under a dark cloud of criticism. His work ethic and his dedication to his physical fitness have been questioned. Harden has responded by coming into the season in better shape than in years. He is using this newfound energy to be ball dominant and prove that he is better than ever. Unfortunately for the younger Maxey, this has limited his usage and opportunities.
Toronto is a tough defensive team and this game could turn into a slog fest. The total is a low 213, which indicates that the line makers expect this to be a low-scoring affair.
I expect Harden to once again make a statement. This will leave Maxey in the corner for catch-and-shoot threes, rather than being able to use his dynamic playmaking ability. For the Sixers to get back on track Maxey will need to be more involved. Unfortunately for him, tonight is not the night I expect that to happen, so we will go Under Tyrese Maxey by 18.5 points.
NBA Prop Pick: Tyrese Maxey Under 18.5 Points (-107) at BetOnline
Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets
Friday, October 28, 2022 - 09:00 PM EDT at Ball Arena
Nuggets Prop Bet: Nikola Jokić
- Over 26.5 Points
After trading their two top players, most people thought the Utah Jazz would be in last place for most of the season. The Jazz got off to a great start, including upsetting the Denver Nuggets in their season opener 123-102. Now the Nuggets have a chance for revenge as they host the Utah Jazz.
I can't say that the Denver Nuggets overlooked the Utah Jazz in their season opener, but we can expect a more concerted effort tonight. Denver has the opportunity to clean up some of its mistakes and attack Utah more prudently. I believe Denver and their team leader Nikola Jokić will use this opportunity to right the wrongs of their season opener.
Nikola Jokić should have a good matchup tonight against the younger centers of the Utah Jazz. Rookie Walker Kessler has been a defensive force down low, but he cannot compete with someone of the MVP caliber of Jokić. Nikola will also be matched up against veteran Kelly Olynyk, who is a fine player but is too small to guard a man of Jokić's size.
This one could be a route, as Denver needs to make a statement after dropping that opening game. Jokić has been sublime in the first 5 games of the season and there's no reason to expect him to dip in the level of play. I believe Denver will win by a margin and Jokić will stuff the stat sheet. Following the NBA odds, our third prop for the night is Nikola Jokić Over 26.5 points.
NBA Prop Pick: Nikola Jokić Over 26.5 Points (-121) at BetOnline
