The Thanksgiving holiday is over and the NBA is back in action tonight with an absolutely loaded 14-game slate.
Let’s take a look at all the available opportunities to find the best player props to make winning NBA picks.
Sacramento Kings vs. Boston Celtics
Friday, November 25, 2022 – 08:00 PM EST at TD Garden
Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)
- Over 28.5 Points (-117)
The Sacramento Kings have become the talk of the league by winning many games. But taking a look at how the Kings are winning, it is not through their defense. The Kings currently have the number-one offense in the league. They just moved ahead of… the Boston Celtics. So tonight when 2 of the best offenses in the NBA face off, there will be plenty of overs on the menu.
Jayson Tatum currently leads the Boston Celtics with an average of 30.6 points per game. He has gone over the point prop total in 3 of his last 5 games including a 37-point performance in 37 minutes against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. Now he gets an opportunity to attack the even weaker defense of the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings love to score and they love to push the pace, which is great for betting overs. Jayson Tatum is moving into top-five player territory with his recent string of excellent offensive and defensive play.
The Prop Pick
I expect Jayson Tatum to put on another MVP-level performance tonight against the high-scoring, low-defending Kings.
My first player prop for the evening is Jayson Tatum Over 28.5 points.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Indiana Pacers
Friday, November 25, 2022 - 08:00 PM EST at Gainbridge Fieldhouse
Ben Simmons (Brooklyn Nets)
- Over 7.5 Rebounds (+112)
The much-maligned Ben Simmons is playing his way into shape in Brooklyn. After a slow start to the year, Simmons is coming off the bench and flying under the radar, yet making improvement. Simmons will never be a knockdown shooter but he has been doing the other things necessary to make his team win; including playing strong defense, being a great distributor of the basketball, and securing defensive rebounds.
Ben Simmons has been staggered in minutes with Nic Claxton, so oftentimes he is drawing opposing centers on defense. This puts him in an excellent position to grab defensive rebounds. Even though Myles Turner will try to bring Simmons out of the paint tonight, he will still be in an ideal position to grab many defensive boards because his ability to switch defensively will allow him to get down low.
The Pacers will not grab a huge advantage by taking Simmons outside on the wing, so whether or not they intentionally try to bring him out to the three-point line or not, Simmons will still get plenty of rebounds.
Simmons has caught plenty of flack for his nonchalant attitude towards the sport of basketball, but keen observers have noticed he has been doing the little things to help his team win, even if he is not putting up impressive numbers in the point column.
The Prop Pick
He has still been grabbing rebounds, and he has still been dishing out assists. We will take advantage of this misconception about Simmons’ current level play to cash this prop.
Following the NBA odds, our second player prop for the evening is Ben Simmons Over 7.5 rebounds.
NBA Prop Pick: Ben Simmons Over 7.5 Rebounds (+112) at BetOnline
Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors
Friday, November 25, 2022 - 10:00 PM EST at Chase Center
Andrew Wiggins (Golden State Warriors)
- Over 18.5 Points (-107)
Steph Curry has been absolutely carrying the Golden State Warriors this season. Two main keys of last year's championship team, Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson, have struggled to start the year. Curry has stepped up and has been a huge reason the Warriors have been competing.
Steph's historic numbers have been overshadowing the rise of Andrew Wiggins to the unquestioned second-best player on the Warriors. Jordan Poole gets a lot of attention with his nifty playmaking and outside sharpshooting, but Andrew Wiggins has consistently put up good offensive numbers all season. Poole has been flashy and explosive, while Wiggins has been steady and reliable.
Against a Utah Jazz team that struggles to defend on the perimeter, Andrew Wiggins has an excellent matchup tonight. Plus, this new-look Jazz team likes to play quickly and that will play into the hands of a big night for the Warriors' new second option on offense.
Andrew Wiggins is one of the best athletes in the league. Now that he understands Steve Kerr's read-and-react motion offense, he has become an even greater offensive threat, even if it is a secondary playmaking role. Wiggins has been excellent from behind the 3-point arc this season, but he also has the athleticism to get to the hoop if defenders are playing him too close.
The Warriors have been Jekyll and Hyde this season when it comes to being at home and on the road. The Warriors are at home tonight which means they should put forth another excellent performance. The Utah Jazz might be overvalued after their hot start. They seem to be regressing to the level of expectations we had for them to start this season.
The Prop Pick
With the Warriors on the rise and the Jazz play slipping as of late, this is an excellent opportunity for the Warriors and their players to put up big numbers.
Our final bet for the night is Andrew Wiggins Over 18.5 points.
