Phoenix Suns vs. Charlotte Hornets

Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – 07:00 PM EST at Spectrum Center

Teams Analysis

Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns will start Kevin Durant for the first time this season.

After trading the Nets in at the NBA Trade Deadline, the Suns finally have a healthy Kevin Durant. Durant should help the Suns become one of the best teams in the NBA. Phoenix already earned a 128-97 win over Charlotte earlier this year.

The Hornets allow a 55.3% effective field goal percentage and need help to keep teams off the offensive glass.

Phoenix isn’t aggressive at getting to the foul line, but against the Hornets, more foul shots will come.

Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets have been much better as of late. They’ve won five straight games. But now LaMelo Ball is out for the rest of the year. That’s going to sting.

The offense has already scored just 110.1 points per 100 possessions while shooting an effective field goal percentage of 51.6%. This offense is going to get much worse without its superstar point guard.

Plus, the Suns are top-ten in defensive points per 100 possessions and have held teams to a 53.6% effective field goal percentage.

The Pick

There could be some growing pains for the Suns early. Durant hasn’t played with any of these guys this season.

But the Hornets will have even more growing pains without Ball in the lineup. Back the Suns at -10.5.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat

Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – 07:30 PM EST at Miami-Dade Arena

Teams Analysis

Philadelphia 76ers

In the first meeting between these teams, the Heat escaped the 76ers with a 101-99 win on the road. But the 76ers are the better team heading into this game and are favorites on the road.

Philadelphia should be able to get quality looks from the field. The 76ers have shot a 55.6% effective field goal percentage, while the Heat have allowed teams to shoot a 55.6% effective field goal percentage.

The 76ers might turn the ball over a bit more and won’t dominate the offensive glass. But none of that will matter if shots are falling.

Miami Heat

The Heat have only scored 111.7 points per 100 possessions this season. That’s just the 25th in the NBA. They’re also shooting an effective field goal percentage of 51.9%. That’s good for 27th in the NBA.

The Heat are still without Kyle Lowry. Kevin Love has given this team a spark since coming over. But offensively, the Heat probably won’t be able to keep up with the 76ers.

The Pick

The Heat ended a weird losing streak with a win over the 76ers. But now it’s time for the 76ers to get some revenge.

Offensively, the 76ers are much better than how they played last game. After checking the NBA odds, grab the 76ers at -2.

Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks

Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – 07:30 PM EST at Madison Square Garden

Teams Analysis

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets have plenty of depth on the roster. But playing the right guys at the right time is the issue.

The Nets are still shooting an effective field goal percentage of 57.7%, but the Knicks, like the Nets, are very good at limiting quality looks from the field.

Brooklyn is bad on the offensive glass and won’t get to the foul line nearly as often.

New York Knicks

The Knicks have won six straight games heading into this one. The offense has scored 117.6 points per 100 possessions. They won’t get many great looks offensively, but they limit turnovers, dominate the offensive glass, and consistently get to the foul line.

The Nets have been terrible on the defensive glass and will foul at a high rate. The Knicks should be able to take advantage of that, despite the Nets giving them challenging opportunities

The Pick

The Knicks are on a big winning streak, while the Nets need help finding many answers. It will take some time for the Nets to figure things out. The Knicks have things figured out. Back the Knicks at -7.5.
