Toronto Raptors vs. New York Knicks

Wednesday, December 21, 2022 – 07:30 PM EST at Madison Square Garden

Teams Analysis

The New York Knicks are on an 8-game winning streak. The Garden is popping, and it’ll stay that way heading into tonight’s game against the Raptors.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto is shooting a 50.9% effective field goal percentage heading into this game. The Raptors aren’t getting good looks from the floor.

However, they’ve still been able to limit turnovers and add a ton of offensive rebounds while getting to the foul line at a high rate.

New York Knicks

Meanwhile, the Knicks have held teams to 112.3 points per 100 possessions and have limited opponents to a 52.8% effective field goal percentage.

The Knicks won’t force a lot of steals or even dominate the glass, but they should at least be able to hold the Raptors from getting to the foul line at a very high rate.

On the other hand, the Knicks don’t always get the best looks either from the floor, shooting a 51.9% effective field goal percentage. However, the Raptors have allowed teams to shoot a 56.4% effective field goal percentage this year. They’ve also given up a 23.4 free throw rate, which is 28th in the league.

The Moneyline Pick

The Knicks probably won’t dominate the offensive glass. But if they can limit turnovers and stay aggressive to get to the foul line, the Knicks should be good enough on the offensive end to sneak away with a victory.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Wednesday, December 21, 2022 - 08:00 PM EST at Paycom Center

Teams Analysis

Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers score 115.8 points per 1000 possessions while shooting a 55.7% effective field goal percentage. Turnovers might get high in this game, but you can also expect many offensive rebounds and foul shots for the Blazers.

Portland is giving up 27.2% of offensive rebounds. The Blazers also earn just 13,8% of turnovers. On top of that, Portland has allowed 115.1 points per 100 possessions and a 54.6% effective field goal percentage.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder have earned 16.1% turnovers and held teams to a 54.1% effective field goal percentage. Still, the Thunder are giving up 29.4% offensive rebounds and have a bottom-ten free throw rate defensively.

On the other hand, Oklahoma City isn’t dominant offensively. They’re only scoring 111.2 points per 100 possessions while shooting a 52.3% effective field goal percentage. But the Thunder should be able to limit turnovers and get shots up.

There’s also a good chance that the Thunder will add a solid amount of offensive rebounds in this game.

The Over/Under Pick

With both defenses struggling and following the NBA odds, I’m riding with the Over 234.5.

Orlando Magic vs. Houston Rockets

Wednesday, December 21, 2022 - 08:00 PM EST at Toyota Center

Teams Analysis

Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic have 2 more wins than the Rockets heading into this game. But the Magic need to slow things down. They can’t play too well, knowing what’s at stake in the upcoming NBA Draft.

The Magic are still only scoring 110.5 points per 100 possessions. They’ve also turned the ball over 16.3% of the time. Still, the Magic are the top team at getting to the foul line and have earned 27.5% of offensive rebounds.

The turnovers are high, and the points per 100 possessions are low, but they’ve done enough over the last week to pull off a couple of massive wins over the Celtics.

Houston Rockets

On the other hand, the Rockets aren’t much better offensively. However, despite shooting a 50.6% effective field goal percentage and turning the ball over 17.5%, the Rockets are the best team on the offensive glass, earning 34.4% offensive rebounds.

The Rockets could also see the foul line more, even with the Magic averaging the highest free throw rate in the league.

At home, with so much hype surrounding the Magic and their play recently, I’m riding the Rockets. The Magic are still wildly banged up and have a lot of question marks heading into this game.

Gary Harris, Jalen Suggs, Chuma Okeke, and Wendell Carter Jr. are all missing this game. And as of now, Franz Wagner is also questionable with a sprained ankle. Sometimes ankles need to heal to play in an NBA game fully. It’s no guarantee that he will play.

The Spread Pick

Back the Rockets here.
