Sacramento Kings vs. Charlotte Hornets

Monday, October 31, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at Spectrum Center

Teams Analysis

The Charlotte Hornets will be without Terry Rozier, Cody Martin, and LaMelo Ball. However, the defense has still played very well up to this point. The Hornets have held teams to 110.5 points per 100 possessions and an effective field goal percentage of 50.6%.

Meanwhile, the Kings are getting good looks on offense, shooting a 56.5% effective field goal percentage. But if Charlotte limits good looks, the Kings will be in trouble. Sacramento has turned the ball over 15.5% of the time and has earned just 23.3% offensive rebounds.

The Kings have allowed 117.7 points per 100 possessions with a 55.5% effective field goal percentage. Sacramento has struggled to earn turnovers, and Charlotte has done very well limiting turnovers.

The Kings are also outstanding on the defensive glass. That should keep the Hornets off the offensive glass. But the Hornets have still earned 28.5% of offensive rebounds this season and could end up earning a couple more than Sacramento in this game.

The Moneyline Pick

On top of that, the Kings have fouled at one of the highest rates in the NBA. The Hornets could end up seeing the foul line more in this game as well. While Charlotte doesn’t have any true scorers and stars right now, Gordon Hayward has added 20 points per game on 51.8% from the field.

I’ve got the Hornets earning an upset win at home.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz

Monday, October 31, 2022 - 09:00 PM EDT at Vivint Arena

Teams Analysis

It’s unclear if Ja Morant will play in tonight’s game for the Grizzlies. He’s been dealing with an illness. However, the Grizzlies still score 120.5 points per 100 possessions this season. That’s the best rate in the NBA. They’ve also dominated the offensive glass, earning 34.4% of offensive rebounds, and have shot an effective field goal percentage of 55.9%.

The Grizzlies will need to limit turnovers a bit better and probably won’t get to the line at a high rate, but the second chances and quality looks will be enough to help them score plenty of points. On the other hand, Memphis hasn’t played excellent defense this season. They’ve allowed 119.7 points per 100 possessions while allowing 55.8% effective field goal percentage.

The Jazz is turning the ball over at a high rate of 16.1% but has also earned 32.2% of offensive rebounds. Like Memphis, the Jazz should be able to dominate the offensive glass and make second chances. Utah is also shooting a 53.7% effective field goal percentage. With Memphis struggling to limit effective field goal percentages defensively, the Jazz should also see great looks from the field.

The Total Pick

Currently, Lauri Markkanen is averaging over 21 points per game this season. The Jazz has no superstars but plenty of depth. That’ll help the Jazz stick around against the Grizzlies at home.

I’ll take the Over in this one for my NBA picks.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Toronto Raptors

Monday, October 31, 2022 - 07:30 PM EDT at Scotiabank Arena

Teams Analysis

The Atlanta Hawks have started the season 4-2. They’ll look to earn their 5th win of the season on the road against the Raptors. The Hawks have scored 116 points per 100 possessions behind Trae Young, who scored 31.5 points per game.

The offense has limited turnovers to 11.6%, which is the bests rate in the NBA. However, the Hawks likely won’t be able to earn many offensive rebounds, knowing that the Raptors have limited teams to 21.2% offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Raptors also have limited turnovers and should have more success on the offensive glass. Still, the Hawks are top-ten in defensive effective field goal percentage and have allowed 112.3 points per 100 possessions this season.

The Spread Pick

The Raptors lost 112-90 to the 76ers a few days ago, while the Hawks kept their game much closer against the Bucks.

I’ll back the Hawks on the road in this matchup. Both defenses have been above-average in most categories, but Atlanta’s offense has been much more consistent this year. Back the Hawks at +4.
