Golden State Warriors vs. Atlanta Hawks
Friday, March 17, 2023 – 07:30 PM EDT at State Farm Arena
Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are still a couple of games over .500. Those road splits have been a nightmare and they are on the road tonight against the Hawks.
Golden State has earned 115.5 points per 100 possessions while shooting an effective field goal percentage of 57.2%. Turnovers can get high for the Warriors, and foul shooting is almost nonexistent. But the Warriors should still get prime looks from the field.
Meanwhile, the Hawks have allowed 115.8 points per 100 possessions and are below average in effective field goal percentage. Atlanta will earn some turnovers but hasn’t been great anywhere else on the defensive end consistently.
Atlanta Hawks
On the other hand, the Hawks limit turnovers very well and are above-average offense. The team has added 115.3 points per 100 possessions but still shoots an effective field goal percentage of just 54%. Atlanta works the offensive glass, hauling in 27.1% of offensive rebounds. However, the Hawks don’t get to the line very much.
The Warriors haven’t been nearly as good defensively this year. But they’ve been better than the Hawks and are mostly an average defense in many categories. Opponents have scored 114.3 points per 100 possessions and shoot an effective field goal percentage of 54.4%. That’s average.
The Pick
On January 2, these two teams went to double overtime, and each scored over 140 points. I don’t expect that many points, but I’d still expect plenty of offense in this game. Ride the over.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Chicago Bulls
Friday, March 17, 2023 – 08:00 PM EDT at United Center
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves do some incredible things on offense and then do some terrible things. I’ll start with the good first. Minnesota shoots an effective field goal percentage of 56.3%. The T-Wolves are getting quality looks from the field.
However, Minnesota turns the ball over 15.3% of the time and earns just over 24% of offensive rebounds. That’s not what this team expected when it acquired Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls have shot an effective field goal percentage of 54.9% while turning the ball over just 13.8% of the time. However, Chicago only scores 113.5 points per 100 possessions due to its lack of second chances. The Bulls have earned only 23.3% of offensive rebounds. Second chances rarely come by for the Bulls.
Then there’s Minnesota, allowing just 113.3 points per 100 possessions. The team has held opponents to 54.2% while earning up 15.6% of turnovers. That’s all solid, but the Bulls allow 28.9% of offensive rebounds and foul at a very high rate.
The Pick
Minnesota will help the Bulls add more second chances in tonight’s game. The Bulls will also get to the foul line more. At home, look for Chicago to earn the win and cover at -110 NBA odds.
NBA Pick: Bulls -2.5 (-110) at BetOnline

Boston Celtics vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Friday, March 17, 2023 – 10:00 PM EDT at Scotiabank Arena
Boston Celtics
The Celtics have been one of the most consistent offenses in the NBA. Boston has scored 117.8 points per 100 possessions while shooting an effective field goal percentage of 56.6%. The Celtics do a great job limiting turnovers but could be more effective on the offensive glass.
Portland’s defense has been dreadful, giving up 118.4 points per 100 possessions. The opponents have a 56.1% effective field goal percentage against the Blazers, and they’ve allowed 27.7% offensive rebounds.
Portland Trail Blazers
Meanwhile, Portland’s got an offense that can compete with Boston’s. The Blazers have shot an effective field goal percentage of 56% and continue to get to the foul line at a high rate.
The Blazers won’t have much success on the offensive glass, with the Celtics holding teams to 24% offensive rebounds. Boston’s also done well keeping teams off the foul line.
The Pick
The Celtics can defend in areas where the Portland Trail Blazers excel on the offensive end. You can’t say the same about Portland, and it’s a defense against that Celtics offense. Back the Celtics -4 against a below .500 Portland team.
