Denver Nuggets vs. Detroit Pistons
Thursday, March 16, 2023 – 07:00 PM EDT at Little Caesars Arena
Teams Analysis
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets have lost four straight games, with three coming against the East Coast. They’ve allowed at least 117 points in each of those four games, but things should ultimately turn around against the Pistons tonight.
The Nuggets are among the best offenses in the NBA, averaging 118.9 points per 100 possessions with an effective field goal percentage of 58.5%. The Nuggets have added 27.2% of offensive rebounds and should have success on the glass, knowing that Detroit has given up 28.2% of offensive rebounds per game this season.
Teams have scored 118.6 points per 100 possessions and are shooting an effective field goal percentage of 56.1% against the Pistons this year. That’s ugly stuff for the Pistons, who have just 18 wins on the year.
Detroit Pistons
On the other hand, the Pistons have scored just 110.7 points per 100 possessions while shooting an effective field goal percentage of 52.4%. Detroit turns the ball over at over 15% but has succeeded on the offensive glass, earning 28.3% of offensive rebounds.
The issue is that the Nuggets have limited teams to 25.4% of offensive rebounds. They’ll make it hard for the Pistons to dominate the glass. The Nuggets have been below-average defensively lately, but all of the things that Detroit does poorly on defense, the Pistons do worse on the offensive end.
The Pick
The Nuggets should eventually turn things around. That starts tonight against a Pistons team tanking for a top spot in the NBA Draft.
And yes, I know the Pistons already beat the Nuggets on the road earlier this year. I’m looking past that.

NBA Pick: Nuggets -13 (-110) at BetOnline
Sacramento Kings vs. Brooklyn Nets
Thursday, March 16, 2023 – 07:30 PM EDT at Barclays Center
Teams Analysis
Sacramento Kings
The Nets allowed 153 points to the Kings back in November. The Nets look different now, but we can’t forget that.
The Kings have the best offense in the NBA, averaging 119.6 points per 100 possessions. Sacramento has also shot a 57.9% effective field goal percentage and limited turnovers to 13.8%.
You can also expect the Kings to get to the foul line at a high rate, as they’ve done all year. Offensive rebounds don’t come around often, but against the Nets, there’s a higher chance, with the Nets giving up 29.6% of offensive rebounds this year.
The Nets have done better defending, keeping teams to a 53% effective field goal percentage, but most teams in the NBA have had trouble stopping the Kings’ offense this year.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets should be able to put up points too. The Nets have scored 115.2 points per 100 possessions with an effective field goal percentage of 57%.
Mikal Bridges has done some big things for the Nets since coming over. He’s a legitimate scoring threat in the league now.
The Nets won’t have success on the offensive glass or even get to the foul line at a high rate, but you can still trust Brooklyn to hits open shots from the field at a high rate.
The Pick
Following the NBA odds, I’m taking the Over 238 between the Kings and Nets.
NBA Pick: Over 238 (-110) at BetOnline

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Toronto Raptors
Thursday, March 16, 2023 – 07:30 PM EDT at Scotiabank Arena
Teams Analysis
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder might be for real after all. Oklahoma City is just one game away from getting to .500 after earning a big win over the Nets a couple of days ago.
The Thunder are doing a great job limiting turnovers, and that’s the one area where the Raptors have had success on the defensive end.
The Raptors are first in the NBA in forced turnovers but also allow teams to shoot an effective field goal percentage of 57%, which is awful.
Oklahoma City will also be active on the offensive glass and earn plenty of second chances in this game.
Toronto Raptors
On the other hand, the Raptors are shooting an effective field goal percentage of 51.8%. They’ve been bad from the field, especially at getting quality looks but the offensive glass will be helpful to the Raptors.
Toronto has earned 30.1% of offensive rebounds, while the Thunder have allowed teams to earn 29.6%.
The Raptors will stick around in this game at home, thanks to second chances from offensive rebounds.
The Pick
I’ll take the Over in this game as well. The Thunder should shoot it at a high rate, and the Raptors should be able to earn many second chances.
NBA Pick: Over 231 (-110) at BetOnline
