The Atlantic Division in the NBA has some serious talent. The NBA odds have the Boston Celtics not only winning the division, but also the conference in the East.
On top of that, the Celtics have the highest probability of winning the NBA Championship. But other teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers could also be in the hunt.
The Atlantic Division looks stacked. Below, we’ll break down each Atlantic Division team and their win totals for the regular season.
Although the Boston Celtics struggled to begin the regular season last year, Boston ultimately went 51-31 on the season. At home, the Celtics went 28-13, and on the road, they finished 23-18.
Boston made some new additions to their squad: Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari. Brogdon could easily win the sixth man of the year for the Celtics. However, Gallinari will likely miss the entire 2022-2023 season due to his torn ACL in the offseason.
Losing Gallinari is unfortunate, but the Celtics still made the Championship with this squad, without Brogdon. Brogdon should be the point guard that the Celtics desperately needed.
Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum, and even Jaylen Brown tried to run the show offensively, but they won’t do it like Brogdon when he gets his opportunity on the court.
What Should We Expect From the Celtics?
The Celtics are sitting at 54.5 wins at the best sportsbooks for the regular season. This team is more than capable of achieving that number. However, the East has improved, making it tougher on the Celtics.
The Miami Heat finished with a 53-19 record, the Bucks are still going to be great, and the 76ers believe this year is their year.
Plus, the Raptors finished with 48 wins, the Bulls added 46 wins, and the Nets should be much better than last year. The NBA won’t be a cakewalk, and it seems like the league’s strength is also better than it has ever been.
I still think the Celtics reach 55 wins on the season, but this wouldn’t be my favorite bet of this article.
The Brooklyn Nets are a considerable mystery coming into the season. But with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Ben Simmons likely starting Opening Night, the Nets could be a severe threat in the Atlantic Division.
The Nets also brought Patty Mills and Nic Claxton and will have a depth between Joe Harris, Royce O’Neale, Cam Thomas, and T.J. Warren.
If this Nets team stays away from the drama and plays a lot of basketball together without getting hurt or sitting out, the Nets will be a terrific club.
What Should We Expect From the Nets?
It’s a guessing game with the Nets, but we expect these players to do their jobs this season.
If that’s the case, I will take the over for the Nets at Over 50.5.
NBA Pick: Nets Over 50.5 Wins (-120) at BetOnline
I’m not as high on the 76ers as many others are. Can you trust the 76ers with James Harden, who seems to be in decline?
Joel Embiid is the entire offense. The Sixers still have Tobias Harris around, and Tyrese Maxey seems like a ball hog most of the time.
The best acquisition for the Bills was P.J. Tucker. He’s a difference-maker, but he’s not an all-star caliber player.
What Should We Expect From the 76ers?
The 76ers won 51 games last year, but I think they’ll regress this season.
NBA Pick: 76ers Under 50.5 Wins (-120) at BetOnline
The Raptors always seem to surprise. Last year, the Raptors finished with 48 wins.
Scottie Barnes is a year older, and the Raptors still have Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr., OG Anunoby, and Pascal Siakam.
Plus, they added Otto Porter to the mix. He should bring a solid spark to this squad, especially from the perimeter.
What Should We Expect From the Raptors?
The Raptors don’t have much depth at guard.
But if they can overcome that, Toronto will go over their team total for wins this season.
NBA Pick: Raptors Over 45.5 Wins (-130) at BetOnline
New York Knicks
The New York Knicks couldn’t get Donovan Mitchell in a trade with the Jazz. Instead, they just signed extensions with their current players and brought in Jalen Brunson.
The Knicks are making smart moves for once, but they’re still in a rebuild.
If the Knicks play Quentin Grimes, Miles McBride, and Obi Toppin more often, they’d have success.
What Should We Expect From the Knicks?
Last year, the Knicks continued to play veterans.
Derrick Rose and Evan Fournier are still on the roster for the Knicks, and they’ll get a lot of work instead of the young guys.
Therefore, for my NBA pick, I’ll grab the under 39.5 on their wins this season.
