Heat vs. Celtics: Series Recap

The Boston Celtics are heading back home with the Eastern Conference Finals all tied up at one.

The Miami Heat ended up winning the first game of the two-game homestand but couldn’t escape the Celtics in Game 2.

With that win, the Celtics currently have the advantage when it comes to home court. But the Heat can squash that with a win tonight, on the road, against the Celtics.

The Celtics were without Al Horford and Marcus Smart in Game 1 but came back from Game 2 while Derrick White was absent from the lineup.

Horford and Smart proved how valuable they are to the Celtics. Now, White should be back for Game 3, giving the Celtics a full-strength roster for basically the first time in these playoffs.

On the other hand, the Heat have been playing without Kyle Lowry for most of the playoffs. He’s been dealing with a hamstring injury and it’s uncertain if he’ll be able to play in tonight’s game.

With that said, here are the betting picks and predictions for the Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.

Heat vs. Celtics: Game 2 Recap

With Al Horford and Marcus Smart back in action, the Celtics dominated from the start against the Miami Heat in Game 2.

The Celtics shot 51.2% from the field on the road and nailed 20-of-40 from downtown in the win. Boston also shot 91.3% from the foul line and turned the ball over just 10 times n the offensive end.

Like most teams, it’ll come down to shooting for the Celtics. When the Celtics are hot from the field, no team will beat them.

When they’re not hot, other teams have a chance to sneak in and get the win. The Heat shot just 44.2% from the field in Game 2 and ultimately shot poorly from deep, hitting only 29.4% of looks.

Players Performance

Jimmy Butler added 29 points but didn’t get many contributions from the rest of the team. Victor Oladipo and Gabe Vincent were second on the team with 14 points each.

It’s tough to win when nobody else can get going offensively. Meanwhile, the Celtics got 27 from Jayson Tatum along with 24 apiece from Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown.

Even Grant Williams added 19 points with Horford and Payton Pritchard giving 10 points each. If you want to win big games in the playoffs, everyone needs to step up.

The Celtics have the depth that Miami wishes they had. That’s why Boston won in Game 2 and why Boston has looked like the better team in seven of the first eight quarters played.

What to Expect for Game 3?

The Celtics are basically going to be at full strength for what feels like the first time in forever.

The Celtics shut down the Miami Heat in Game 2 and it should be easier to shut them down in Game 3, at home.

Boston allowed just 106.9 points per 100 possessions this season on the defensive end and allowed teams to shoot a 50.4% effective field goal percentage.

Both of those numbers are the best defensive numbers in the NBA. The Heat is always turning the ball over, giving up 14.9% of turnovers per game.

On the road, those turnovers could sneak up on the Heat. The Heat is also a very good defense but Boston is proving that they’re a better offense by hitting contested looks along with wide-open looks.

The Celtics have much better ball movement in this series and are getting better looks while keeping the Heat off-balanced.

The Heat fouled at a very high rate this season and they really don’t want to put the Celtics on the line. The Celtics shot above 90% on the road from the line in Game 2.

Jimmy Butler will step up for the Heat, but who else can he rely on if Kyle Lowry isn’t back yet? I like the Celtics to come away with the home victory.

Heat vs. Celtics: Game 3 Prediction

The Celtics have so much depth. With every key player healthy for tonight’s game, the Celtics will be able to keep everyone fresh and ready to go.

The bench is giving legitimate good minutes and they’ve got some true gamers between Grant Williams, Payton Pritchard, and Derrick White.

The Heat have developed their players extremely well. Most of their guys are undrafted players who turned into solid role players.

But they don’t have the athleticism that the Celtics have off the bench or even with their starting lineup.

The Celtics are much more flexible and less reliant on one player’s performance. You’ve got to give Jimmy Butler credit for what he’s accomplished. But tonight, the Celtics are taking Game 3 at home.
