The Milwaukee Bucks descend on Bankers Life Fieldhouse for their final regular season battle with the Indiana Pacers. The Bucks own the head-to-head series thus far behind a 2-0 SU mark, and they’ll be eager to sweep the series – an outcome that falls in line with market expectations. However, the Pacers have home advantage and they could make a fist of it. The Central Division rivalry features prominently on Thursday’s NBA betting card and we preview the matchup below complete with recommended best bets.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Indiana Pacers

Milwaukee Bucks Clinch Division

The Milwaukee Bucks clinched the Central Division before the conclusion of the regular season, so the focus of their remaining games (three left on the season) are about improving their Eastern Conference standings. The Bucks (44-25) currently occupy the No.3 spot in the overarching standings, three games back of the top-of-the-table Philadelphia 76ers (47-22). If the Bucks hope to make it to the summit, they must win out and hope their rivals fall to the wayside at the same time.

Going into Thursday’s contest, the Bucks can hang their hats on several positives. One of which is Giannis ‘The Greek Freak’ Antetokounmpo is back to his imperious form, emerging once again as a top contender for the MVP award this season. When Giannis plays well, it trickles down the ranks elevating all around him to play better. That’s evident in the team’s form, which stands at a 7-3 SU mark in their last ten games, including six wins in their last seven games.

Another bright spot for the Bucks is their recent mini-series sweep of the second-placed Brooklyn Nets (46-24) to close the gap on their rivals in the standings. The Bucks beat the Nets last week 117-114 and 124-118. In their latest contest, the Bucks crushed the Orlando Magic 114-102 at home, a victory that represented a bounce-back performance after stumbling against the San Antonio Spurs the previous night (l. 146-125).

Overall, the Bucks are amongst the best teams to spot going into the playoffs and a popular bet in NBA Championship futures. While they’re a stellar 44-25 on the season, they’re a bit of a hit and miss in point spread betting markets this season. The Bucks are merely 31-38-0 against the spread with a 5.9 winning margin on average.

Indiana Pacers Clinch Play-in Berth

The Indiana Pacers are beneficiaries of this season’s revamped format, clinching one of four play-in berths for a chance to advance into the playoffs. As it stands, they’re the ninth-ranked team in the Eastern Conference with a 33-36 mark on the season. The Pacers advanced their postseason cause with a two-game winning streak that included a shocking upset win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. Indeed, on the back of that shocking upset the Pacers punched their play-in ticket.

What made the victory all the more heart-warming for the Pacers also is the fact that they battled from an 11-point deficit in the second half to upend the highly fancied 76ers. All told, the Pacers (+5.5 at closing doors) defied the NBA odds by defeating the 76ers 103-94. Gaining a great confidence-boosting victory that will hold them in good stead down the stretch, not to mention dealing a setback for Philadelphia in its quest for the No.1 seed. The Pacers are 29-39-1 against the spread this season.

NBA Predictions and Picks:

The Pacers are coming off a great high. Beating the Philadelphia 76ers was no mean feat but they got the job done against the odds. They’ve had a couple of days to process the result and refocus to their minds to the next task on hand, which happens to be yet another mammoth ask against the Milwaukee Bucks. Whether they can go for two straight upsets remains to be seen, but the likelihood is rather low. As such, the best bet is the Bucks for NBA picks.
