Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat
Sunday, May 29, 2022- 08:30 PM EDT at FTX Arena
The Boston Celtics will hit the road to take on the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Whoever wins tonight will take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
The Heat already had a taste of the NBA Finals, earning a spot in the Finals two years ago. Ultimately, the Heat didn’t win the Finals that year and are now looking to finally finish the job this year.
Meanwhile, the Celtics and their entire roster have never been to an NBA Finals. Not even Al Horford, who is 36 years old. The Celtics might not have the experience but they surely have the depth to make it into the finals.
We’re not here to predict the winner of tonight’s game. We did that in yesterday’s article. Instead, we’re going to look at some player props to consider for tonight’s big game.
Jayson Tatum Over 28.5 Points (-120)
Jayson Tatum added 30 points on just 12 attempts from the field in Game 6. He had seven turnovers but still shot 4-for-7 from the field. Tatum will be aggressive in Game 7 and look to get to the line at a high rate.
When he’s getting shots up, those shots are falling. The Celtics just need to do a better job of giving Tatum space to score buckets.
The Heat continues to double team and trap when they can and have forced Tatum into a whole lot of mistakes. But you’d have to imagine that the Celtics will adjust and find ways to get Tatum the ball in open space to knock down shots or be aggressive and score around the rim.
Tatum has scored 29 or more points in three of six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. When he’s getting to the foul line at a high rate, he’s more likely to get 30 points.
In Game 6, Tatum took just 12 shots but still made nine of them. Game 6 was the game where he took the fewest shots in the Eastern Conference Finals. So if he gets more space to make plays and limits the turnovers, Tatum should have a great game from the field.
Derrick White Over 2.5 Assists (-148)
Derrick White has been coming up huge for the Celtics in the last two games. White added 36 points in the last two games with five assists in each of those two games. Even the game before that, White added six assists and he also had four assists in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
White has hit over 2.5 in every game but one and has been earning more minutes due to his quality of play. White is aggressive. He loves to pump fake, drive, and then either kick out the ball around the three-point line or dump off a pass to a big around the rim.
When White gets around 30 minutes a game, he’s easily getting over on his assists. Tonight, in a must-win Game 7, the Celtics are going to play the guys who make the most impact. He’s one of the five guys that do just that.
Take White to get Over 2.5 assists in this Game 7.
NBA Pick: White Over 2.5 Assists (-148) at BetOnline
Al Horford Over 1.5 Three-Pointers (+140)
Horford didn’t have his best game against the Heat in Game 6. He shot just 1-for-6 from downtown and has been slumping recently from deep. But Big Al is going to have to step up a little bit. In Games 2 and 3, Horford added five threes on seven attempts. In both of those games, the Celtics were on the road and Horford delivered.
The attempts will be there. Now the shots need to fall. Horford hasn’t been to the NBA Finals in his career. The veteran is surely going to get himself back on track tonight to contribute to a potential victory.
Horford even averaged two three-pointers per game against the Bucks in the prior series and is very capable. He goes on streaks and stretches but Horford’s time is running out to win an NBA Title. He’s going to be prepared and ready from downtown.
Plus, he never shies away from a good look and has a quick trigger. You love to see that.
