Top sportsbooks have released their MLB odds for today’s baseball action. Three games, in particular, interest me as worth investing in: Royals vs. Guardians, Twins vs. Tigers, and White Sox vs. Padres.
For reasons that I will explain, you should play the total for the first two games and the moneyline for the third. Feel free to parlay these bets at one of our best sportsbooks in order to maximize your profit.
Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians
Saturday, October 01, 2022 – 06:10 PM EDT at Progressive Field
Who Pitches for the Royals Today?
Kris Bubic starts for the Royals tonight.
Bubic is an almost constant loser. But it isn't his fault that the Royals' lineup consistently struggles to score runs.
Regarding his individual tendencies, Bubic has done a good job of taking advantage that he's left-handed by succeeding against lineups that struggle against left-handed pitching.
Unfortunately for him, most of baseball's worst lefty-hitting lineups are in the NL.
Bubic Against Guardians' Batters
Exceptionally, Cleveland, a team in his division, is awful against left-handed pitching.
When he faced the Guardians on September 6, he was unfortunate to yield a 4.26 ERA, because he did an excellent job of inducing soft contact. His 2.80 FIP in that start reflects how well he actually performed.
One should expect Bubic to thrive against Guardians' batters also in view of the pitches that he throws. He throws a fastball, changeup, and curveball. Cleveland ranks 29th in slugging .328 against these pitches from lefties.
Who Pitches for the Guardians Today?
Zach Plesac is back on the mound for Cleveland after he broke his hand in frustration just over a month ago.
Kansas City is just the stress-free team for him to face. After allowing one run in his first 11.2 innings against the Royals, he yielded a 1.72 FIP in his last start against them.

Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers
Saturday, October 01, 2022 - 06:10 PM EDT at Comerica Park
Who Pitches for the Twins Today?
Dylan Bundy starts for the Twins tonight.
Pertinently to my best bet for this game, Bundy is a strong "Over" pitcher especially outside of Minnesota; he tends to have more trouble limiting opposing runs in road games.
The "Over" is hitting in 72.7% of his road starts.
Bundy's Poor Form and Ballpark History
There are two reasons, specific to this game, to dislike Bundy.
First, Bundy enters this game in poor form. He's allowed four runs in both of his last two starts even though his last two opponents were the Angels and Royals. His amplified tendency to allow home runs helps ensure that runs come easily against him.
A second reason to dislike Bundy is that he suffers a 0-1 record and 6.48 ERA in three career starts in Detroit.
Who Pitches for the Tigers Today?
Drew Hutchison starts for the Tigers today. The "Over" has hit in each of Hutchison's last six starts.
Hutchison's Bad Form
Hutchison's poor form contributes to this "Over" trend. He has allowed a combined total of 12 runs in his last three starts.
Perhaps more aptly suited for the bullpen, Hutchison really struggles when he goes through the order a second time.
When hitters face him a second time in a given game, their slugging rate rises exponentially relative to their slugging rate in their first at-bat against him.
MLB Pick: Over 7.5 (-120) at BetOnline
Chicago White Sox vs. San Diego Padres
Saturday, October 01, 2022 - 08:40 PM EDT at Petco Park
Who Pitches for the White Sox Today?
Dylan Cease starts for Chicago today.
Cease enters this game pitching excellently, having allowed one run or zero runs in four of his last five starts.
He is victimizing both division rivals and teams outside his division alike.
Cease Against Padres' Batters
Primarily, Cease throws his slider and fastball. These two pitches combine to make up just over 80% of his arsenal.
Padres' batters merit pessimism tonight for two key reasons. One, they rank 10th-to-last in slugging against Cease's two favorite pitches from righties. Two, they are struggling to hit in general.
They've scored a combined total of three runs in their past three games even though one of those games went into extras.
Who Pitches for the Padres Today?
Mike Clevinger starts for the Padres tonight.
He has been awful except against a ridiculously cold Cardinals' lineup that was suffering an extended scoreless streak.
Overlooking this exception, Clevinger has allowed 4 earned runs or more in four straight starts.
