With a full slate of games on the horizon, we’ve put together the best moneyline, run line, and total for the Angels vs. Rangers, Guardians vs. White Sox, and Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Texas Rangers
Wednesday, September 21, 2022 – 08:05 PM EDT at Globe Life Field
Los Angeles Angels
The Los Angeles Angels will send out Tucker Davidson, who has struggled since joining the team. He’s 2-6 with a 6.96 ERA on the season.
It hasn’t been much better in the last 30 days, with Davidson holding a 6.47 xFIP. The left-hander has struck out just 16% of batters while walking 13.6% of batters in the previous 30 days. Righties are hitting a .384 wOBA and ISO of .217, while lefties, in short sample size, have hit a .666 wOBA and ISO of .625.
On the other hand, the Rangers are hitting an ISO of .192 and a wOBA of .344 against leftie over the last month with their projected lineup. Adolis Garcia, Mark Mathias, and Josh Jung have recently hit lefties at a very high rate. Marcus Semien and Nate Lowe have also had success.
Dane Dunning will get the call for the Rangers. The righty has a 4.49 ERA on the year.
His xFIP is worse over the last 30 days, but he’s still earning nearly 50% of ground balls. Righties are slugging a .498 wOBA and ISO of .333 against Dunning, but the Angels’ lineup will have just two or three righties in the lineup.
Mike Trout could do some damage to Dunning, but who else?
The Moneyline Pick
Let’s take the Rangers on the moneyline at -145 for our MLB picks. The Angels are going to platoon all of their lefties against the righty, despite Dunning pitching much worse against righties this season.
Cleveland Guardians vs. Chicago White Sox
Wednesday, September 21, 2022 - 08:10 PM EDT at Guaranteed Rate Field
Chicago White Sox
Lance Lynn will take the mound for the White Sox with a 7-5 record and a 3.99 ERA.
He’d love to keep his ERA below 4. In the last 30 days, he’s been able to hold a 3.66 xFIP with 30.2% of strikeouts. Lynn has kept walks down and continues to eliminate line drives over the last 30 days as well.
Meanwhile, the Guardians have hit just a .124 ISO and wOBA of .289 in the last 30 days against righties. Cleveland has limited strikeouts but have hit 47.1% of grounders with just 18.1% of line drives.
Triston McKenzie will get the call for the Guardians. He’s another righty with a 10-11 record to go along with a 3.08 ERA.
He’s struck out 23.6% of batters since the last 30 days and has limited walks to 6.5%. Lefties are hitting a .206 ISO, but that’s really the only blemish for McKenzie over the last 30 days.
Chicago will more than likely have just three lefties in the lineup. Those lefties, combined, have hit a .135 ISO and wOBA of .278. There’s really nothing to worry about there.
The Over/Under Pick
We’ve got an exciting pitching matchup between the Guardians and White Sox tonight. Let’s take the Under in this big divisional game.
MLB Pick: Under 7.5 (-110) at BetOnline
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
Wednesday, September 21, 2022 - 10:10 PM EDT at Dodger Stadium
The Arizona Diamondbacks will pitch Madison Bumgarner. He’s a lefty with a 5.01 ERA on the season. He’s also lost 15 games this year.
In the last 30 days, things have been even worse. He’s got a 6.02 xFIP with just 10.5% of strikeouts. Bumgarner has allowed nearly 30% of line drives with under 34% of ground balls induced. Righties have a .429 wOBA and ISO of .319 while lefties are hitting a .461 wOBA and ISO of .294 in a shorter sample size.
The Dodgers are hitting a .226 wOBA and ISO of .372 over the last 30 days. Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, and Justin Turner have been the key contributors against lefties.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Dustin May will get the start for the Dodgers. He’s getting nearly 50% of grounders and limiting line drives to 17.5% over the last 30 days.
May has been a bit worse to righties but will face seven lefties in the Arizona lineup. Those lefties have combined to hit a .165 ISO with nearly 20% of strikeouts.
The Run Line Pick
I’ll ride the Dodgers to win by multiple runs in tonight’s game.
MLB Pick: Dodgers RL -1.5 (-145) at BetOnline
