Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox

Friday, September 2, 2022 – 08:10 PM EDT at Guaranteed Rate Field

Teams Analysis

Minnesota Twins

Sonny Gray will take the bump for the Twins. The veteran righty has a 7-4 record with a 3.04 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, he’s got an xFIP of 4.14 with 28.3% of strikeouts.

Gray has allowed 22.6% of line drives in the last 30 days, however, he’s also limited wOBA and ISO numbers against both sides of the plate in the last 30 days.

He’ll take on a White Sox lineup that has hit a .105 ISO with a wOBA of .305 in the last 30 days against righties. Only Gavin Sheets has been really consistent with his bat against righties.

Chicago White Sox

On the other hand, Davis Martin will take the hill for the White Sox. He has a 6.86 xFIP through his last 38 plate appearances. He’s a righty who has struggled more against lefties, giving up a .376 woBA with an ISO of .235 against his last 20 lefties.

The Twins haven’t destroyed the cover off the ball against righties, however, lefties like Nick Gordon and Jake Cave have had some power against righties over the last 30 days.

The Moneyline Pick

The Twins certainly have more potential in their lineup tonight going up against Martin. I’ll ride with Sonny Gray and the Twins to get me a moneyline win.

Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves

Friday, September 2, 2022 - 07:20 PM EDT at Truist Park

Teams Analysis

Atlanta Braves

The Braves will send Charlie Morton to the mound. Morton has a 3.32 xFIP in the last 30 days with 34.4% of strikeouts.

He’s allowed some power to righties recently, giving up a /237 ISO, however, there’s not a single right-handed batter that has hit for power against righties in the Marlins lineup.

The Marlins are hitting a .125 ISO with a wOBA of .285 in the last 30 days against righties using their projected lineup.

Miami Marlins

The Marlins will send out Sandy Alcantara. He is going to win the NL Cy Young award. He’s had the most complete game this year and has a 2.13 ERA on the season.

Alcantara has limited line drives and continues to get a high amount of grounders. He should also see an uptick in his strikeouts knowing that the Braves have struck out 24.4% of the time against righties in the last 30 days.

The Braves are boom or bust. They need extra base hits or they’re going to strikeout. Alcantara doesn’t allow many extra-base hits.

The Over/Under Pick

We’ve got an exciting pitching duel tonight, so for our MLB picks, let’s take the Under 7 in this matchup.

Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox

Friday, September 2, 2022 - 07:10 PM EDT at Fenway Park

Teams Analysis

Texas Rangers

Anytime I get the chance to Fade Dallas Keuchel, you better believe I’m going to do it. Dallas Keuchel will take the mound for the Rangers tonight with a 2-8 record and an 8.84 ERA.

That’s not a typo. The lefty has a 6.35 xFIP in the last 30 days and has earned just 3.7% of strikeouts against his last 27 batters faced. Against his last 21 righties faced, Keuchel has allowed a .448 wOBA and ISO of .278.

He’ll be facing plenty of really good righties in the Red Sox lineup. The righties in Boston’s lineup have combined to hit a .198 ISO and wOBA of .316 against lefties in the last 30 days. Boston just strikes out a lot against lefties but won’t do that against Keuchel.

Boston Red Sox

Nick Pivetta will get the call for the Red Sox. His xFIP is a bit high but so is his strikeout rate.

The Rangers four-through-nine, have struggled really badly in the last 30 days.

The Run Line Pick

Give me the Red Sox on the run line. Plus money against Keuchel is in my blood.
