Philadelphia Phillies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Tuesday, August 30, 2022 – 09:40 PM EDT at Chase Field

Teams Analysis

Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies would love to have yesterday’s game back. After leading 7-0, the Phillies ended up losing. So there’s that.

Tonight, Aaron Nola will take the hill with his 2.67 xFIP in the last 30 days. Nola has struck out 30.4% of batters faced and has walked just 3.7% of batters. He’s also allowed just 34.8% of hard contact and has limited extra-base hits from both sides of the plate recently.

Arizona hasn’t struck out against righties in the last 30 days, but they also don’t have much power. In the Arizona lineup, Emmanuel Rivera, Christian Walker, and Daulton Varsho have high ISO numbers. The rest of the lineup has an ISO of .113 or worse.

Arizona Diamondbacks

Zac Gallen will take the hill for the Diamondbacks. He’s currently 9-2 on the year with a 2.66 ERA. He won’t be easy to beat, but the Phillies now have Bryce Harper back in their lineup. That’s going to help things.

Gallen has a 3.02 xFIP in the last 30 days with 30.8% of strikeouts. He’s also earned over 58% of ground balls and has limited line drives to 12.5%.

The Moneyline Pick

Neither offense should really take off tonight, but with Schwarber, Harper, and a red hot J.T. Realmuto in the lineup, the Phillies have more potential in their lineup to have success against Gallen.

Therefore, I’ll take the Phillies on the road at -140.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Miami Marlins

Tuesday, August 30, 2022 - 06:40 PM EDT at loanDepot park

Teams Analysis

Tampa Bay Rays

We might see a pitching duel in the Philadelphia and Arizona game. But I think this pitching duel could be even better.

Lefty, Shane McClanahan, will take the hill for the Rays with an 11-5 record to go along with a 2.20 ERA. McClanahan has a 3.41 xFIP in the last 30 days and has struck out 22.4% of batters faced.

However, he’s taking on a Marlins projected lineup that has struck out 35.3% of the time against lefties in the last month. Miami has a .141 ISO with a wOBA of .226 against lefties in the last 30 days.

Miami Marlins

On the other hand, Jesus Luzardo will get the start for the Marlins. He’s another lefty with a 3-5 record to go along with a 3.34 ERA.

In the last 30 days, Luzardo has a 3,.42 xFIP with 23.9% of strikeouts. He’s walked just 6% of batters and has earned over 52% of grounders while limiting line drives to 16.4%.

The Rays, on the other hand, are hitting a .137 ISO with a wOBA of .300 against lefties.

The Over/Under Pick

McClanahan might even pitch a perfect game against this miserable Miami lineup. The top of the lineup has a little bit of potential, but the bottom half of the order will be the rally killers.

Take the Under 6.5 in this one.

Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves

Tuesday, August 30, 2022 - 07:20 PM EDT at Truist Park

Teams Analysis

Colorado Rockies

Jose Urena will take the hill for Colorado. The righty has a 2-5 record with a 5.98 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, he’s walked more batters than he’s struck out.

He will get plenty of ground balls and has limited line drives, but his high wOBA to lefties and high ISO to righties will be more than enough for the Braves to take advantage of.

The Braves have a .191 ISO and wOBA of .344 against righties in the last 30 days. The bottom portion of the order has been remarkable, while the top of the order has struggled a bit more.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves weren’t happy about losing a series to the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. You can expect them to come back strong tonight against the Rockies.

Plus, with Max Fried on the mound for the Braves, the Rockies likely don’t stand a chance. Fried has a 3.34 xFIP in the last 30 days and has been one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball this season.

Fried has earned over 60% of ground balls and has limited line drives to 14.5%.

The Run Line Pick

The Braves will hit well tonight and the Rockies are way worse on the road offensively this season.

For your MLB picks, take the Braves on the run line.
