With a full slate of games on the horizon, we’ve put together the best moneyline, run line, and total for the Red Sox vs. Twins, Yankees vs. Angels, and Phillies vs. Diamondbacks.
Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins
Monday, August 29, 2022 – 07:40 PM EDT at Target Field
Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox welcomed Brayan Bello back to the mound and he didn’t disappoint in his last start. Bello finished his return start with a 1.38 xFIP and struck out 34.6% of batters while earning over 81% of ground balls.
Bello’s a top prospect who will eventually be really good in the MLB. Forget his 7.36 ERA on the season, that’s going to drop. He’s facing a Twins lineup that is hitting a .097 ISO with a wOBA of .266 against righties.
Dylan Bundy will get the start for Minnesota. He’s got a 5.23 xFIP with just 12.8% of strikeouts in the last 30 days. Bundy isn’t earning a ton of grounders and is giving up plenty of line drives.
The Red Sox have a .164 ISO and wOBA of .317 against righties with Frenchy Cordero stepping up in the bottom half of the order. Plus, Trevor Story will be back in the lineup. That can only help this Boston team.
The Moneyline Pick
The Red Sox aren’t a crazy good offense, but they’ve hit righties with their projected lineup better than Minnesota.
Take the Red Sox on the moneyline in this one.
New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels
Monday, August 29, 2022 - 09:38 PM EDT at Angel Stadium
Los Angeles Angels
The Angels will send out Jose Suarez for tonight’s game. The left-hander has a 4-6 record with a 4.19 ERA on the season. That’s basically what he has done recently too. Suarez has a 4.15 xFIP with 25% of strikeouts along with 4.3% of walks.
The Yankees have hit lefties better recently, however, hitting a .206 ISO with a wOBA of .297. It won’t hurt having Giancarlo Stanton back in the lineup. As a group, the Yankees have struck out just 15.1% of the time against lefties and have walked 12.7% of the time.
If the Yankees are going to break out offensively, this is the game they’ll do it.
New York Yankees
Frankie Montas is scheduled to pitch for the Yankees. He has a 4.87 xFIP with just 15.2% of strikeouts. He’s also allowed 25.5% of line drives. Montas will face an Angels lineup that is hitting 25.5% of line drives against righties in the last 30 days on their own.
Right now, Montas isn’t getting strikeouts. If he’s not going to get them, the Angels will put the ball in play and make big things happen, especially with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani in the order, batting next to each other.
The Over/Under Pick
For my MLB picks, I’ll grab the Over 8 in this one.
MLB Pick: Over 8 (-110) at BetOnline
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Monday, August 29, 2022 - 09:40 PM EDT at Chase Field
The Arizona Diamondbacks will send out Madison Bumgarner for tonight’s game against the Phillies. Bumgarner has a 5.49 xFIP with just 17.9% of strikeouts in the last 30 days.
The lefty has also allowed 25.3% of line drives in that time frame and has induced only 32.9% of ground balls. On top of that, his BABIP is currently sitting at .387, meaning nearly 39% of balls batted into play have become hits.
Against righties, Bumgarner has allowed a .440 ISO with a wOBA of .291. Rhys Hoskins, Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto, and Nick Castellanos are in this Phillies lineup with Bryce Harper standing in the middle of it.
Ranger Suarez will get the call for the Phillies. He’s 8-5 with a 3.38 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, he’s got a 3.65 xFIP while earning over 56% of ground balls.
Suarez will pitch against an Arizona lineup that has a .044 ISO with a wOBA of .231. Yes, Corbin Carroll will be called up, but it’ll be his first game in the Majors. Calm down.
The Run Line Pick
Philadelphia's offense should have fun tonight. Take the Phillies -1.5.
MLB Pick: Phillies -1.5 (-110) at BetOnline
