We’ve put together our favorite three bets for the night with a full slate of games on the horizon. Let us know if you’re tailing these bets!
There are plenty of intriguing matchups for today’s MLB slate. Find out where I see value below. I gave out my favorite moneyline, total, and runline bets for the slate!
Los Angeles Angels vs. Houston Astros
Saturday, September 10, 2022 – 07:15 PM EDT at Minute Maid Park
Los Angeles Angels
Shohei Ohtani will take the mound for the Angels. He’s 11-8 with a 2.58 ERA on the season.
Ohtani has been the best player on the Angels in every single aspect. He’s done it with his pitching and hitting.
Over the last 30 days, Ohtani has struck out 23.5% of batters. He’s walked under 6% of batters and has limited line drive to 16.9%.
The right-handed pitcher has struggled a bit against lefties, but the Astros only have one batter from the left side who is consistently hitting.
That would be Kyle Tucker, who has a .242 ISO and wOBA of .442 in the last 30 days against righties. Other contributors include Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman, but they’re both righties. The rest of the lineup has struggled badly.
On the other hand, Jose Urquidy will take the hill for the Astros. He’s 13-5 with a 3.51 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, he has had an xFIP of 4.64 and has allowed nearly 21% of line drives.
He’s known for giving up a lot of fly balls and power. The Angels are getting lots of power out of Mike Trout recently and have lefties that can do damage, including Ohtani.
The Moneyline Pick
Therefore, I’ll take my chances with the Angels at +115.
Ohtani will at least keep Los Angeles in the game and give me a chance to win a plus-money bet.
San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago Cubs
Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 02:20 PM EDT at Wrigley Field
Although this game has no playoff implications, the Giants and Cubs should put on a good show today if you like pitching duels.
Marcus Stroman will take the bump for the Cubs. He has a 3-6 record with a 3.73 ERA on the season. However, over the last 30 days, Stroman has earned over 60% of ground balls and allowed just 17.5% of line drives.
He’ll take on a Giants lineup with a .164 ISO and wOBA of .300.
Without Joc Pederson and some ISO from LaMonte Wade, the Giants would look incredibly bad on the offensive end.
The Giants’ projected lineup has also struck out 23% of the time, and although Stroman hasn’t racked up strikeouts recently, he’ll likely add some more in today’s game.
San Francisco Giants
On the other hand, Logan Webb will take the hill for the Giants. He’s 12-8 with a 2.89 ERA on the year. In the last 30 days, he’s carrying a 3.10 xFIP with 23% of strikeouts and 7.4% of walks.
Like Stroman, Webb has been getting a high rate of ground balls and has minimized ISO power numbers from both sides of the plate.
The Cubs have just one player contributing consistently against righties in the last 30 days. All they’ve got is Ian Happ, who is hitting a .318 ISO and wOBA of .377 against righties in his previous month against righties.
The Over/Under Pick
Joc Pederson and Ian Happ won’t lead their offenses to eight runs or more.
For this MLB pick, let’s ride the under.
MLB Pick: Under 7.5 (-105) at BetOnline
Chicago White Sox vs. Oakland Athletics
Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 04:07 PM EDT at Oakland Coliseum
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox continue to work their magic after a stunning come-from-behind win yesterday against the Athletics.
Today, Lance Lynn will get the call for the White Sox. Lynn has had a 2.82 xFIP in the last 30 days with 33.9% of strikeouts and 2.5% of walks.
He’s also getting a high rate of grounders and giving up a low amount of line drives in that same time frame.
He’ll take on an Oakland lineup with a .097 ISO and wOBA of .279 in the last 30 days with 26% of strikeouts against righties.
On the other hand, Adrian Martinez will be on the mound for the Athletics. He has a 4.86 xFIP with 9.5% of walks.
Chicago hasn’t performed incredibly well offensively, but they’ve got Eloy Jimenez, Gavin Sheets, and Andrew Vaughn, who are putting up power numbers against righties.
The Run Line Pick
I’ll continue to bet on the White Sox as long as the magic continues. They’re going to win by multiple runs.
MLB Pick: White Sox -1.5 (-110) at BetOnline
