Who might be the next manager fired in MLB? There have been two so far, with the Angels’ Joe Maddon at the latest on Tuesday, although it didn’t prevent L.A. from losing its 13th straight game. Here are six player props bets for Wednesday with MLB odds from BetOnline, one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks and betting sites.
Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins
Wednesday, June 08, 2022 – 06:40 PM EDT at loanDepot Park
MLB Prop Bet: Sandy Alcantara
- Over/Under 5.5 Strikeouts
- To Record A Win?
The Fish have won Alcantara’s past five starts and he’s 4-0 with a 0.69 ERA in those, pitching at least 7.0 innings in all five and allowing no more than one earned run.
Since May 11, Alcantara has allowed 18 hits and three earned runs over 39.0 innings while striking out 40. He is the first MLB pitcher since the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw from August 12-September 2, 2015 to pitch 7.0 innings and allow no more than one run in five consecutive games.
Alcantara’s 1.81 ERA is the lowest in franchise history through the first 11 starts of a season and No. 2 in the National League. He has to be a leading contender right now to start for the NL in the All-Star Game. Against Washington this year, Alcantara is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 14 innings.
At least we know this MLB game will be played in Miami with the retractable roof – which is almost never open, by the way, because of the heat and summer rains in south Florida.
This might be the third straight start that I’ve addressed Miami starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara, but if something works stick by it. Every DFS site out there ranks him as the No. 1 pitching option Wednesday and I agree.
MLB Prop Pick: Sandy Alcantara to Record the Win (+105) with BetOnline
Prop Bet on Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Leadoff hitter Jazz Chisholm Jr., another possible All-Star, was 2-for-5 with two homers, six RBIs, and two runs scored in Tuesday’s 12-2 win over the Nats.
- He entered the game in a 3-for-37 slump.
- Jazz Chisholm Jr. is a 4-for-11 career with a triple and homer against Nats starter Josiah Gray.
MLB Prop Pick: Jazz Chisholm Jr. with at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145) with BetOnline
New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres
Wednesday, June 08, 2022 – 09:40 PM EDT at Petco Park
MLB Prop Bet: Chris Bassitt vs. Sean Manaea
- Who Has More Strikeouts?
I think New York’s lineup will be a bit watered-down, so I like San Diego lefty Sean Manaea to have more strikeouts than Mets counterpart Chris Bassitt.
Sean Manaea has been a moderate disappointment at 2-3 with a 3.77 EAR but has 68 strikeouts with a high of 12 this season. He had eight last time out in Milwaukee. Bassitt (4-3, 3.74 ERA) has 68 strikeouts as well and he’s pretty much good for six every night but has not approached double digits yet. The Padres’ lineup should be whole.
MLB Prop Pick: Sean Manaea with More Strikeouts (-179) with BetOnline
Prop Bet on Pete Alonso
- Over/Under 1.5 Total Bases for Hits
The Mets had a three-game winning streak snapped in Tuesday’s 7-0 loss in San Diego and the loss was potentially costly for New York. All-Star slugger and former NL home run champion Pete Alonso was forced to make an early exit when got struck in the hand by a 95.7 mph fastball by Yu Darvish.
He dropped to the ground in pain and was eventually replaced by J.D. Davis. X-rays did turn up negative. More on him in a second. Outfielder Starling Marte was removed from the game due to left quad tightness, and he’s probably headed to the injured list.
Marte obviously is not playing tonight and I doubt Alonso does, but I’m going to include a prop on him in case he tries to gut it out – obviously, your book would refund if he sits. My point being is that if he does play, he’ll clearly be less than 100 percent and may not have much power, so we like under his total bases.
MLB Prop Pick: Pete Alonso Under 1.5 Total Bases from Hits (-150) with BetOnline
MLB Prop Bet: Francisco Lindor
- At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs
For our one-hitter prop for this baseball game, we’ll go with Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor, who could be moved into a bigger RBI spot in the lineup if Alonso is out.
Lindor is 4-for-9 with two doubles and a homer career off Manaea. And we know Lindor won’t get tonight off if New York is so short-handed.
MLB Prop Pick: Francisco Lindor With at Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-189) with BetOnline
