Best MLB Player Props to Consider for June 6

Only six games around the major leagues Monday with the biggest story of the night likely whether the Angels will snap an 11-game losing streak. Here are five player prop plays for Friday with MLB odds from BetOnline, one of BMR’s top-rated sportsbooks.

Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels

Monday, June 06, 2022 – 09:38 PM EDT at Angel Stadium

Mike Trout

  • Over/Under 0.5 Hits

Trout was playing at an MVP level – he has won the AL MVP three times – but is in a major funk right now as he’s hitless in his past 26 at-bats, the longest such drought of his career.

Trout is too good for this to continue and perhaps a return to Angel Stadium will spur him as Trout is hitting .340 at home compared to .200 on the road. Career against tonight's Red Sox starting pitcher Michael Wacha, Trout is 3-for-6

No team with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout on it should be losing double-digit games in a row. The Halos are only the fourth team since 1900 to lose 10 games or more in a row to fall back to .500 or worse in a season, joining the 1991 Reds, ‘78 A's, and ‘70 Cubs.

I seriously don’t know what has happened to the Angels, who looked like American League contenders about two weeks ago but are now under .500 thanks to an 11-game skid, the team’s longest since August 2016.

None of those clubs made the postseason. I still think the Angels probably will be a wild-card team.

MLB Prop Pick: Mike Trout Over 0.5 Hits (-228) with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review)

Noah Syndergaard

  • Over/Under 4.5 Strikeouts

  • The Angels are starting big right-hander Noah Syndergaard on the mound
  • He turns into a pumpkin on the road at 1-3 with a 7.88 ERA but is 3-0 with a 1.48 ERA in four home starts.
  • Syndergaard has struck out at least five in three straight home outings, and we think he gets to at least that number tonight.

MLB Prop Pick: Noah Syndergaard Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+100) with BetOnline

Jared Walsh vs. J.D. Martinez

  • Most Total Bases From Hits

I expect Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez to have success off him as Martinez is third in the majors in hitting at .353 and is a 4-for-8 career with a double off Syndergaard.

The Angels’ Jared Walsh is batting .258 on the year and hasn’t homered in eight straight games. Thus, if Martinez simply goes yard tonight, we should win this prop bet. We might simply with a Martinez double.

MLB Prop Pick: J.D. Martinez for More Total Bases (-132) with BetOnline

Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros

Monday, June 06, 2022 – 08:10 PM EDT at Minute Maid Park

Robbie Ray

  • At Least 6 Strikeouts

Feels like we address Robbie Ray in this space every time he takes the mound, but we have been winning on the 2021 Cy Young Award winner. He’s clearly not what he was overall last year with the Blue Jays and after getting paid this winter as a free agent by the Mariners as Ray is 4-6 with a 4.93 ERA.

However, he’s still among the MLB leaders with 74 strikeouts and has had a least six in five straight outings.

Seattle and Houston have played two series this year, but Ray didn’t pitch in either. Ray hasn’t faced the Astros since 2020 when he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Computer sims have him finishing with 6.7 Ks.

MLB Prop Pick: Robbie Ray to Have At Least 6 Strikeouts (-120) with BetOnline

Yordan Alvarez

  • At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Alvarez has four homers and eight RBI in his last six games, and he's raised his average from .247 to .285 over his last seven. His 16 homers are second in the majors. Alvarez hasn’t faced Ray but is batting .333 with two homers, four RBIs, and three runs against the Mariners in 2022.

Perhaps no player in the American League is hotter right now than Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez, who signed a long-term extension with the club over the weekend. On Sunday, he was 3-for-4 with a single, triple, and homer (thus double shy of the cycle), three runs scored, and an RBI.

MLB Prop Pick: Yordan Alvarez with At Least 2 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-201) with BetOnline
